Yes it is pricey, which made me think it might be high spec but it doesn’t appear to be.

It’s a solid light with some fatal flaws imo.
Main problem is it’s click to turn on, hold to turn off with the side switch……
Also, i understand the pedal switch (which is a little too easily activated) activating strobe in tactical mode, but it is completely wasted in normal mode. It should just be turbo for the main switch and low/moonlight for the pedal switch. That would have really made the light a versatile edc option. I am really frustrated by flashlight manufacturer’s obsession with strobe mode!
I also, think that 1200 lumens is simply too low for a light this size. At this size it should be pushing 1600 plus, given the competition. Perhaps they could implement these features in an new version.

Sofirn just shouldn’t of used the Samsung LED for a tactical model. Use an SST40 5000K

Instant strobe is a must on a tactical light for law reinforcement.

Buttons feel very cheap though, not liking the feel at all, too much play in the side switch.

I just received one yesterday, will have a review up with photos in the next 4-5 days, i just want to carry it for a bit first. Constant current buck driver in this one will hopefully prove to be nice addition.

I dislike mine :frowning: switches feel too cheap and there’s no lock out for both the side and rear switch in one action. 4 clicks to lock out side switch and then unscrew the tail cap slightly to lock out the rear switch. I also would have opted for more throw than the LH351D

My review of TF84 is also almost finished. I hope to take some useful beamshots in the next days. I noticed the LH351D has a quite warm tint. ATR is set to 45°C max. The runtime graph looks much better than the one of SP35 with ATR. No fluctuations.

Quick rundown is that I like it a lot as a tacticool light. Tailswitches are turbo and strobe only, which is what you’d probably expect in a tacticool light.

The sideswitch lets you use it as a more conventional and flexible light, even with a shortcut (press’n’hold) for moonlight. It’ll even memorise moonlight if you want, but once you switch into the main cycle, low is as low as it goes.

Yeah, the switches feel a bit mooshy but they’re really not that bad. Main switch feels like a thinwall rubber boot, almost like an eyedropper’s, over a standard clicky switch, and you can feel the “dimple” when pressing it.

But all in all, I’m still liking it. Great CT/tint.

If you’re thinking of it as an EDC, you’ll probably be disappointed, but for what it’s designed to be, I like it.

LB, I am liking it a lot too. I don’t have any tactical lights unless you counted the olight mini warrior i sold.

The tF84 I feel is really well done, I don’t mind the button feel and I think the paddle is awesome. I discovered last night you can lockout the standard side button and switch modes with the paddle after turning on with the “turbo” tail button. Just a lot of options, it feels really well thought out, the UI is perfectly straight forward for what it is.

I carried it all day yesterday, and I’m going to take a stand and say I wouldn’t edc this light. The tf84 is a tactical/ weapon light. It’s fun, but it turns on in the pocket too much for pocket carry. I had to completely lock it out manually. But that’s not what this light is for as you stated , and it’s not what I’ll use it for. It’ll be my weapon light or truck light.

I’m impressed with the tf84. It’s just not an edc, but There are way too many of those anyway.

Compared to the "fickle" regulation of SP35 the ATR/buckdriver regulation in TF84 works pretty well. Being nitpicky as usual, I could ask for a higher threshold for ATR (55°C instead of too conservative 44°C) and a lower preset voltage when the buckdriver falls out of regulation. The final phase of the runtime could be balanced a couple of minutes longer in return of a shorter runtime on ultralow to the very end. On a side note, I doubt the max output is 1200lm, more likely somewhere around 900lm. I look forward to seeing some actual lumen numbers from other reviewers. ;-)
