I just got the GT mini pro, and want to do some emitter swapping. it has the same 3mm thick mcpcb that the fw1a / fw1a pro has, so i need to see if i can buy some blank mcpcb's.
I Havent had any luck in the past emailing Lumintop but have seen others say they have had luck.
I already have this email: ec@lumintop.com
No response..
Any contact or info anyone might have would be really appreciated.
I’m looking for Lumintop contact also. I’m wanting the rubber E-switch with the bunny logo for my EDC18. Wondering if anyone ever ordered those from Lumintop?
Funny, i copied and pasted the email (ec@lumintop.com) right from their website… oh well. I appreciate all the contacts.
I have looked on MTNe for 3mm thick boards but couldn’t find them. If they are not 3mm think then, as you know, the reflector will just wobble around in there and centering would be a nightmare. Plus i’m sure its good for heat sinking too.
So I have bought a 50 pack of copper 20mm spacers of varying thicknesses for this purpose recently from amazon. I tried attaching one of the spacers via solder and hot plate to a blank mcpcb on a Fw1a but I kept getting angry blue leds in turbo, so I assumed however I was attaching the copper “spacer” to the mcpcb was not creating a good enough thermal path? I don’t know. I could try it again, because I have a bunch left.
Are you saying I don’t even need to solder it? That I could place my spacer between the mcpcb and the shelf of the light? I didn’t even consider that.
Your welcome and thank you! I have gotten a response from that email, and I’m in the middle of (hopefully) figuring out the answer now. The customer service rep is really nice, and at first didn’t understand what the mcpcb was, but after 3. Or 4 back and forth I think they know what I’m asking for, waiting on response from yesterday. Wish me luck! Ill have a bunch of different leds in that little beast of a light lol. I’ll check back just for anyone else who is interested in how to contact lumintop
I've had really mixed results with Lumintop lights as has a coworker. They generally come through in one way or another but it's kind of a pain to reach them and start the communication chain, which has almost always been long and drawn out. Since they have an Amazon presence now, if you purchase there, they are more responsive and usually seem to just send a new light to you quickly once they determine a legitimate defect.
Recently my not-much-used ODL20C died on me. It had a quirk right out of the box where sometimes it would not turn on, but fiddling a little with the tailcap or removing the cell and waiting a minute before reassembling and trying again usually fixed it. Well...then it just died and would not power up anymore no matter what I tried, and everything pointed to the driver. Undid the leads and the XHP35 was fine, boards were snug, switch appeared to be fine upon inspection and it would light up when the usb cord was attached (charged fine, too, and the low-only mode on the emitter would work when the cord was attached).
So I contacted Lumintop on their website email (both "service" and "sales") with no reply after weeks and a couple tries. Tried messaging on Aliexpress with no reply. Finally, based on the good and fast service on Amazon when the coworker needed two lights warrantied, I messaged them there and got a fast reply from "Peter."
I explained that I didn't purchase on Amazon but I hoped he could help since I couldn't reach them elsewhere. It was bought at Banggood and only two years into the five-year warranty. Well, the light is discontinued and Banggood had no more stock and would not offer to help, told me to contact Lumintop (not even a partial refund or worthless BG points...which was surprising). I included several photos of the disassembled light and the good quality cells I use, and explained what I'd observed and thought the problem could be. I don't think he understood "driver" at first, but he didn't make me jump through a bunch of hoops. He started communicating with HQ and although it was over a month with several message exchanges and missing "I'll get back with you tomorrow" promises, he eventually got a driver and a tail board in the mail to me. Photos of it look different than what I have in my light but we'll see how it goes (spring instead of tab contact, couple extra components on that side of the board as well). I think he must be based in China based on the timestamps and just handles the US stock/sales at Amazon.
Much easier to work with Simon or with Sofirn and some of the non-budget brands (sometimes) but if you persist with Lumintop it does seem that they do an ok job and will sometimes agree to send parts only if they feel you are competent in the DIY work. It's just not quick or easy with them.
