Wrist watches. Post pics, if you EDC one!

I have had my new Casio GGB100-1A3 for a week now and absolutely love it  , I would post a picture but not able to.

:+1: :+1: That’s it! Thanks GOOSE!

What’s wrong with the caseback of the Heimdallr SKX?
At a glance it’s the same as SteelDive and I managed to have a couple of my SteelDives regulated without any problem.

Very nice, very nice :sunglasses:

I’ve tried almost everything short of supergluing a bolt to it (that’s an actual method, you can remove with an acetone soak afterward) to try and remove them and simply can’t. Neither my MM300 or Monster dial variants will budge at all. Not about to shell out for a professional caseback remover that costs as much as one of the watches either.

Great choice, my GWM5610 arrives Tuesday.

And because I also wanted something with traditional hands, this one arrives Tuesday.

I am also a fan of G-Shock watches. My current EDC watch is this Gravity Master. I like the copper tone and orange nylon band of this model.

Well, 4 years. I got the watch above in 2012 and it has worked flawlessly since, but recently the second battery has stopped working.

There were two reasons to buy a different one though, because I wanted a mechanical watch (I really dislike having to go to a shop to swap the battery every 3/4 years) and because after 9 years the tritium tubes are significantly dimmer than when new.

I tried a Glycine Airman purist version for a year now, it is beautiful but despite wearing it every day to my surprise I have not been able to get used to the 24 hour reading of the small hand, looking at my watch remained a puzzle even after a year :person_facepalming: . And I missed the tritium at night.

So this is my newest attempt, I gambled on a chinese watch from aliexpress, a black Epoch 7012G (it says “witness the times” on the face, which is a bit weird, but I don’t care about that), with Myoto automatic movement, sapphire cristal and tritium tubes. It was a bit over 200 dollar. I used my old leather strap that I like very much.

It runs 14 seconds per day fast, which is a bit much but the rest feels great and quality, and I can read the time again  .
And the trits are awesome, and considerably brighter than the trits from my old watch.

technically you are supposed to have mech watches serviced every couple years - usually at over $100

wle

I was only going to buy one G-Shock (really). Wound up with three (and one Pro-Trek). All four have solar charging and multiband-6 (radio controlled). Reception from the WWVB transmitter in Fort Collins Colorado works flawlessly so far (time has updated every night). I'm about 950 straight miles from the transmitter.

I understand that, but I also read that you may get away with 10 to 15 years between services. Will see what happens…

True, but a 15 year service will probably end up being a costly repair instead. Periodic services are preventative maintenance. Just the same, you can drive your car 15,000 miles between oil changes too but it’s probably not a great idea.

That said, if the watch was inexpensive it’s probably not worth worrying over as the cost of servicing could easily exceed the value of the watch.

Low-beat movements can often easily go a decade+ without service and run just fine. They’re made to be used, abused and go without service due to less stringent precision of parts and reduced wear from the lower beat rate . Accuracy might drift, but you aren’t protecting a valuable asset from costly degradation like when you get a Rolex or Patek Phillippe serviced.

Ah, another G-Shock fanatic! I have a number them… about 60 altogether, actually. Many of them vintage screwbacks. Bought for collecting then got bored. My favorite is the GD-350 with vibration. Nice bright LED back light. Works so well for timing at the grill, because of the vibration alert.

Wearing a GW-9100 Gulfman today, for watersports. Just a nice all-around rugged watch, syncs nightly with no problems.
