Thanks for the feedback! and i apologize i just had a hard time following,a re you saying you owned the k75 and blf gt90 ( i know you owned that one bc i saw you just sold it), and your saying the blf gt90 is a far better light?
I am torn between these two and having a hard time deciding. i kindve feel like the gt90 is the pinnacle of +100mm head throwers, especially with the sbt90.2, probably worth the $75 more over the k75?
Unno, I already got a pair of L2s that are box queens ’cause I rarely have any need for that kinda throw, but if I wanted an Überthrower, it’d have to be one of the LEPs, like the Acebeam or the Wallmart or whatever’s the very-similar one.
Not the Astroluxen that have strobe/SOS/whatever (!?) right in the main selector. I wouldn’t get one of those just out of spite.
And i have been on a huge Nuetral white kick, and have seriously been considering the OG GT in xhp35 NW. I love my 4000k K1, and would love the GT original
Really? the NW xhp35 version? Im telling you, i have since ordered about 6-8 neutral white edc’s and a couple more throwers in xhp35 NW from Simon. I really am liking the xhp35 NW. I actually may prefer the xhp35 NW over some of my SBT90 throwers…
If thats what you have, when you are ready to sell, please PM me. I am interested.
Just please, not TOO soon, it’s been a busy month. LOL
I have the original XHP35 NW and also bought a new driver from Texas Ace to power a shaved XHP70, I also have the 4 cell short battery tube, and several custom made shims to play with the focus. Not really sure yet if I want to sell it, but give me shout out when you are ready. I may be just looking for original investment from the original group buy (Still much lower than what you would pay) + actual shipping costs.
We could talk about it over PM when you are ready.
I thought LEP was more like a laser beam (zero spill) whereas the GT90/94 thrower has a an entirely different beam profile and AFAIK has some very acceptable spill.
Maybe after this pole is complete, it would be a good idea to do a $200.00 and less thrower favorite pole.
.
I voted for the GT90 but the GT70 is better for real use because of higher lumen output, in my opinion.
.
I saw that, and almost sold 3-4 of my lights (that I didn’t want to sell, reason why I just didn’t) so I could buy your gt90. It was a great price even with shipping.
I just don’t know if an LEP is what I want. My buddy has the w30, and it’s incredible, but if I’m being honest, I think I’d use it less then a 20lb (lol) sbt90 thrower. Unless you are spotting something well over 500m away, the hotspot is so intense with those really good LEPs that it’s unusable IMO. Although, I’ll probably buy one eventually, lol.
Great idea, thanks cncman! I don’t know, I haven’t seen the gt70 for less then $200. But your right, becaus it comes in nuetral white too, which I like. I had the mf02s nw and sold it bc the xhp70 didn’t throw impressive, but I sure the head size of the gt remedies that since it’s almost double the size of the mf02
IMO, LEP lights are like HIDs, they are niche products that are great to have as part of a flashaholic’s collection, yet not much of practical use in the long-term real world use.
I tend to agree, they are a great thing to show off to your friends but if you were stranded in the dark somewhere, I would take a “real” light over an LEP any day.

Here are the results I have. Granted the Lexel driver is going to push the 70.2 to near its highest Lumens that most lights cannot do, so its not a fair comparison. But its doable.
.
Left XHP 70.2 …… Right Luminus SBT 90.2.
.
The led was from Digi-Key at XHP 70.2 5700K before dedoming.
The driver is 12v 8amp from Lexel with 5v power supply for pump.
Runs cool and only gets warm in warm weather.
.
The dedomed Digi-Key XHP 70.2 5700K performed much better than the 6500K dedomed Mtn. Electronics led.
12V 8Amps on turbo
1.372,969cd
9,200lm
2,343m throw
.
Specs for Luminus SBT 90.2 not water cooled.
3V 22 amps on turbo
1,829,513cd
5800 lumens
2700 meter throw
.
It is hard to beat the XHP 70.2 when driven hard.
A lot has been promoted about the SBT 90.2, but the proof is in the beam shots.
When standing behind the two lights, I give the 70.2 my vote.
