Flashaholic party / get together NYC area

I am suggesting to host a get together for people crazy about flashlights which it turns out I am one of. Originally this started as my intention to learn how to mod lights so I posted in the modder’s section of the forum, and then another idea to just get together, chat flashlights, and have a plain good time took over. A few modders said they were interested, but you don’t really have to be a modder to attend. I, for one, don’t know the first thing about modding lights but would love to see what people come up with. I will probably voice some stupid modding ideas of mine just to have people laugh at me - that will be fun.

Anyway this is now expanding to those who would like to get together with like minded people. Will be in Brooklyn. We will pick the date good for everyone. I will provide the food . You bring what you want to drink and of course your favorite lights/ light mods! Let me know here or thru pm, or both. Life is short , let’s light it up!

I spent almost every Sunday at my aunt & uncle’s house on sterling street when I was growing up. A plane crashed there around 1959 in which a kid was the sole survivor. Gee, what a way to start off a thread! In any event, the guys on cpf have one or two a year, usually in nj or pa. I for one think we should have more! What park would we be using to get some distance from the lights?

This is not far from the Brighton beach and co way island area. There are some dark areas there but not complete darkness. I was thinking to get together in my gf’s apartment, have a meal, chat, and use her balcony to test some light. If you want to then go out to try darker area we can then drive to bay ridge to the park that goes along the belt parkway, it’s pretty dark .I usually test lights over there. But I will think of some closer dark areas we can use without having to drive to another place.

Yikes, this was a long time back - missed it. I'm bout an hour out of Brooklyn.

Might be better to rent a space at the javits center and have vendors as well as enthusiasts. Who knows, may end up being as big as PC Expo was back in the day.

Yes. This was ages ago and never actually came to fruition, which doesn’t mean it can’t happen in the future. We can still do it if there is interest, maybe outside this time, like a picnic or something? Can start in the afternoon, and test some lights as it gets dark. Can start small and hey, maybe grow to rent Javits center some time down the road,
What’s the worst that can happen - meet a few new people, make a couple new friends…

You mean we have to leave our parents basements?

Yeah, I think it’s officially allowed now , if one wears 3 or more Face masks)
