If you could only Buy One "Super Thrower"? (Under $400)

I think I had a little to much to drink the night I posted in this thread. It had very little to do with the topic sorry.

It sure is a special light more on the fun side than practical. Got it from a member over on CPF back in 2013 another member BVH purchased three of them.
I just realized I only have one picture of it. It’s a pic of all my big HID & short arc lights (see below).

I got my MR175 for around the same price as a BLF GT90 but the shipping down here was almost the same cost again.

The one at the back is the MR175
!!

I looked up that mr175 the other night too, wow! That thing must be a beast. That is outside my wheel house, I probably couldn’t figure out how to operate it lol.

I think I may go with the lumintop sd90- new releases :

90mm head (a little small, wish it was 100mm or 105mm)
Sbt90.2
Anduril
4 x 18650
Qc3.0 charging capability
Claimed 1750m throw, my estimate is maybe more like 1650m
Under $250

I’m just a little worried spending $235 on this light, I may have wished I just kicked in another $100 and got the blf gt90. But then again, I think the sd90 will be significantly more “portable”, so maybe I’ll actually use it.

Anyone have any thoughts on Lumintop’s new SD90 ?

SD90

[US$249.00 30% OFF]Lumintop SD90 SBT90.2 7500LM High Lumen Strong 18650 Flashlight Type-C Rechargeable Long Range Powerful LED Torch For Outdoor Hunting Fishing Flashlight from Lights & Lighting on banggood https://banggood.app.link/PQKQg4aogfb

Well, its a nice light, but 7500 Lm is very opportunistic, you might be happy when it gives you 5000Lm

Absolutely, I’ve accepted the fact that no matter what lumen number the manufacturers post for sbt90.2, it’s going to be around 5000 Max. And that is completely fine with me. I know what 5000 lumens looks like, and when it’s throwing almost as far as my 1500 lumen osram, I’m 100% happy with 5000 lumens

That Lumintop SD90 looks like a nice light its cheaper on Ali I think Here

K75 by a mile

Thanks for the link. There is a coupon that makes it $219 before fees and shipping on banggood. I can share if you want it, it’s Fin17’s coupon.

So, yes. Funny I just saw this comment now. Thanks flashoholic.

After a week of back and forth and back again I was almost definitely going to buy the mf04 (or mateminco mt35plus) for the super throw and sustainability and price. and then I started looking more seriously at the K75. Yes it’s > $100 more then the best price I could find on the mt35 plus, but here’s my “logic”.

The size and weight seems a little smaller and more manageable then Blf gt & mf04, and the throw seems to hang with or beat mf04 xhp35 and blf Gt90, and the price seems to be good for where it is in the arena of these throwers. Also The driver seems superior.

Only downside of k75 I can see is the UI, but it looks like from what I’ve seen it is very similar (?) to the astrolux mf04/mf02 UI, and I have had he mf02 and I don’t mind that UI.

Here’s the throwers I ended up contemplating and what my reasons were for/against them:
Mf04- great throw, too big, lower lumens - this was my winning choice at first though
Mf04s- not enough throw (comparatively, for what I want) for large size
Blf gt- good throw, too big, although lower throw & larger size then mf04
Blfgt70- same reasons as mf04s but “worse”
Blf gt90- great throw, awesome light, still big, expensive
K75- smallest of the big lights, best price of the sbt90 lights, impressive driver/performance

Remembering what ever I pick I definitely do NOT need, I just want it, changes the way I look at it because for my situation I want to try and get the most performance for a light in this Huge size range for the best price. It is my first light in this size category. Given it’s not something I will use often, i want it to be crazy impressive and the least cost possible. That directed me away from xhp35 and toward the the brighter sbt90 led. Essentially an sbt90 with the best price. I know 2200 lumens is completely fine in a thrower and actually really good, but after watching many videos and other members output and throw numbers, the k75 really stood out. But, if I had the extra money, I probably would go blf gt90.

Thanks for everyone’s input! Sorry about the long post here.

+1
I own K75 since a few months. Worth every penny.

Do Samsung 30q button tops fit OK in the K75?

Yes.

I think the new Thrunite TN42 V2 might fit that bill while you can get it for 90 bucks off. SBT90.2, 4x21700 batteries, 4848 lumens, 1860 meter throw with 864000 cd. Also has USB-C charging with wall charger included, as are batteries. With discount, entire deal is 209.96 US shipped. I already had the TN42, TN40S. I really like the Thrunite throwers.

I am very excited about my coming Thrunite TN42 V2, a further throwing, longer running, higher lumen, upgrade to the already stellar TN42…yes. Even with the discount, 209.96 is still a chunk of change for a flashlight, but 1860 meters of throw at almost 5000 lumens is hard to pass on. That is 1.15 miles of throw. Can’t wait to see reviews with beamshots.

New version of TN42 would be my choice. I love the original and would love to try it with the SBT.

K1 with Osram is always good for anyone wanting to stay around $100 budget.

WHoa! I was looking at the new Thrunite, but @ $299 list price it was a hard pass because the K75 was cheaper. But $209, i think i am going to get the new TN42 instead! Thanks for the heads up on the sale, Sarge12 ! plus the head size is the “sweet spot” of 105mm, bigger then the mf02s V2 astrolux, but smaller then the BLF GT90. the thrunite looks like a nice sized light.
Was the coupon on a mailer? i am subscribed but i didnt see one come through the mail.

It is in a post here on these boards, in reply to a request and on the Thrunite facebook page the code is TN42V2. Code is good for 1 week only.

Thanks!

does it have the sbt90.2? it is unclear on thrunite’s website, and i know they have used the sst70 line in the past, which is also an uncommon emitter choice. So i hope this TN42 V2 isnt the 1st generation sbt90, although i dont even knwo if there was a first version bc i cannot find any info on Luminus’ website about a first generation sbt90.

Does anyone know about this?

It is the SBT90.2….On the Thrunite facebook page they say that all their current offerings with SBT90 are the 90.2 versions. I am not even sure they make the first version anymore.
