KC1 keychain light is available now

ummm… uhh… WTF! I hope someone modded that themself, but looks like Hanks switch. unless they did a driver / switch swap??

OR, Hank really likes some other collector mroe then the numerous people on blf who have asked him… Because i have asked him more then once, and within the last month. We email often enough where i think he might actually remember me as one of those guys who always changes something or adds something to their order after palcing it and pays him through paypal seperately. I know theres others out there.

Anyway, i just checked the site, no dice on him offering it on the store. So maybe a first time trial for hank and that owner? Or someone is just really lucky

EDIT: i have not bought nearly as many Hank lights as other members here, i know that. But i have probably bought 25-30 Hank lights. half of them this year alone. Id like to think he would hook me up with one of those D4 aluminum back lights lol. i told him id pay extra of course.

He says it’s his first Hank light and was bought a month ago .

is this person (on reddit) fu**ing with us? Like i am actually pissed off about this. maybe i need to walk away. :person_facepalming:
maybe he just offered Hank enough money where he didn’t want to say no?

He says the change was free .

Emailed Hank about the switch . He said yes . Have ordered one cyan with cyan back light .

Hmm… ok. Thanks for info

Yup, i’m ordering one too. I looked back in my email and i guess i asked hank less times then i thought. Also, recently i asked him if he could do it in the D4sv2, not the d4v2. he said no he couldn’t, so i was confused. sorry everyone.

Ordered a cyan with cyan switch light and a grey with amber switch light.

Edit:
Thanks TimMc! for the heads up on the aluminum lighted switch.

I bought a D4V2 E21 2000K without the magnet. I want it now !

Can the magnet ($ 2 only) be added or do I have to buy the entire magnetic tailcap (7 $ ) ?
I removed the spring from the tailcap and there is a small hole.
I guess this is the space to add the magnet.

I asked Hank but I’m not sure he understood my question: he offers me the tailcap at 7 $.

I’ve bought neodymium magnets at the hardware store, and grinding the correct size was a pain, I could only fine slightly larger ones and grinding them down to fit. It once I did all of that they still never worked right.

Personally i would buy the tail cap from Hank, but it sure a couple people on here that can walk you through the process

Thank for the answer
In fact, I want to buy the magnet from Hank with my next order but it seem he is only selling the whole magnetic tailcap

Just got a small batch XP-L HI T6 8D LED in stock, 2800K, 90CRI, we will not put it for sale on the site,
if you like it, please order the XP-L HI V2 5D 4000K version on the site, and send us an email,
so that we can use XP-L HI T6 8D LED for the light you purchase.

Thanks Hank! Sounds interesting...

Oh boy, looks like I’ll be ordering another kr4… and probably the d4s too… thanks Hank!

I hate to ask this question, but if you have the ability, is there anyway to give an estimate lumen rating for the kr4 or d4. I will look at the CREE data sheet and probably get a decent estimate… but I am just curious, more so compared to the 5d 4000k. I feel like my 5d 4000k lights are close to as bright as my 3a 5000k xpl-hi lights. Hoping the 8d is similar too!

Hmmm, the 8D's are T6 bin, so down 2 levels from the V2 5D's, so from what I've measured, they should be lower. How much to be noticeable is another issue.

Is not V2 5D 4000k and T6 8D 2800k?

Should be lower, right? I guess I do not understand bins well, so if someone could clarify, I would appreciate it.
I do understand one letter/number combination indicates distance from BBL (or maybe both?)

So much still for me to learn.

T6 and V2 are bins, for brightness or lumens output, not color, tint, BBL related, etc. Explained here: https://flashlightwiki.com/Brightness_Bins

The wiki has some good basic info, though dated, it's pretty much all or mostly relevant.

T6 is a brightness bin, 8D is the chromaticity bin, you need to check the XP-L datasheet , T6 means 280-300lm at 1050mA, 8D is below the BBL. For reference kaidomain has a 90CRI XPL HI T5 7C1, one bin lower and above the BBL, so I guess this a good deal.

XPL HI at 3000K is too warm for me.

I wonder if I can get a high-CRI XPL HI light by combining 2 or 3 of these high CRI XPL HI leds with maybe 1 low-CRI cool white XPL HI.
