M4D M4X deals - Astrolux WP1 and WP2 LEP

Hi Martin,
Any progress on a deal for the Thrunite T2 ?

no

Thanks!
And a happy newyear

Martin? 2021 is not a good year for this thread so far. Things ok?

I E-mailed with Martin this week. He is good,
but thinking about leaving te whole flashlight sene.
I will not say more, as it is not my place to do so.

He is still very active on facebook, and i’m sure he will reply if you contact hem

That’s too bad. Martin was my preferred GB organizer. He’ll be missed.

I was wondering this too. Martin Helped me get something sorted out with NG a couple months back, he has always been the most on point GB coordinator in terms of helping after the fact in my limited experience.

I hate facebook, and never go on. But I wish him the best if he does move on from here.

I hope everyone is remaining safe. Thanks for updating us on Martins status.

Well.this thread seems to be dead… :open_mouth:

Any information what happened to Martin? I only read about rumors that he suddenly stopped all activities concerning flashlights.

I wonder too….

There’s an entry on his page stating his activities are on hold. No explanation, so it’s not something for public audience.

Hope you’re well, Martin!

He works for Olight Austria now. Probably not allowed to talk about anything else.

That’s a bummer to be limited to such crappy flashlights

Ah, thanks. Found him on FB.

Apparently he likes that he now only has to "serve" one single company, only has to speak to german speaking customers potentially (though I wouldn't have thought he really minded speaking english...). What he's actually doing I don't know. Probably website stuff and maybe some marketing videos for olight here and there, asking whether or not you already have the i3T in all 247 available colors or which one you're missing. And of course only praising the lights, not being allowed to talk critically but fairly about them and comparing them to competitors.

IMHO he would've done well to pick someone who could take over the good relationships he had with banggood and neal so at least the community can continue to benefit. But of course that's his choice. IIRC he said it's possibly not permanent though, so he might come back at some point.

Yea, coming back after transitioning to a corporation like olight, like you said where you cannot fairly and honestly compare your products to the competition, will be interesting. If he comes back soon I would understand it, if he comes back in a couple years time... well we all love Martin but people move on. I'm really surprised and kind of disappointed he went to a company like olight. Like you said, those schill marketing videos they make.. their gross. And it surprises me because Martin seemed like one of the few reviewers that would really call a company out for their shortcomings. Now this? I thought the first person who said it was joking..

(as an aside, I worked for a large corporation for some years, and it drains your soul, couldn't imagine applying that to something that is supposed to be fun like hobbyist flashlights).

right, bc now we are moving to Less and less people having relationships with manufacturers and providing us discounts and groubuys. I don't know if this will helps us as a community or hurt us but I do know we will definitely find out. And I also know that less options on how and where we spend our money is, generally speaking, Not a good thing.

Amazing how people are fast to make assumptions, extrapolate and judge without knowing the whole stories…

I have no idea on what position Martin now works for Olight. Let’s try to see it from a positive perspective. His knowledge of different flashlight brands could be beneficial for Olight to make more interesting models, not only using LEDs in AngryBlue™ coldwhite or PukeGreen™ neutralwhite. ;-) Moreover, he knows the community very well and can contribute a lot to internal decision processes - provided that Olight has the will to listen to him.

I wish him all the best for his future endeavors and hope to seeing him back anytime soon.
