Which movie did you watch lastֻ

It really is well done, and more timely today than ever before. When it was released, I think a lot of people didn’t understand it is a satire, and they thought it was promoting the ideology and lifestyle depicted (with the black uniforms reminiscent of uniforms worn by Nazis in World War 2, and jingoistic slogans, like “The only good bug is a dead bug”). So, it seemed that many science-fiction fans were upset that they made a satire out of Heinlein’s story, and many non-science-fiction fans were just baffled by it. On its own terms, it really is a well-done movie.

I saw 1984 (1984).

I read the book in 1991 or 1992, back when I was in high school.

The book is a classic, though not all that entertaining.

I think that the movie would be very confusing for anyone that has not read the book.

Also, the movie is not all that entertaining.

The acting is okay, but the music in the film isn't that great.

The movie is also pretty depressing.

I don't remember the book being so depressing.

If you've read the book, the movie is decent, but otherwise I'd avoid the movie.

A serial killer pins his crimes on two college students who gave him a ride.

I like road trips, movies about New Mexico, movies with/about cars, and motels. So I thought this would be a perfect movie for me. Well, it was an acceptable one. Not the best film or script out there, but it was fine enough for a boring, rainy Monday night.
IMO Rated R for various elements of violence, lewd language and exposure of blood.

Haven’t seen this one, but the original with Rutger Hauer is a classic!

Thank you for this bit of information I didn’t know about. Will look into that one.

Today’s movie is:

Dead Girl 2006
Good movie, great acting, deserves better than 6.6

Brilliant movie. Must see.
Secrets & Lies 1996

I saw Bad Samaritan (2018).

[One of my favorite movies of all time.]

I really like this movie.

The acting is extremely good, as is the music.

The movie is about an antagonist that is a criminal mastermind.

It seems like he is always a few steps ahead of everyone else.

It's kinda frustrating for the antagonist to be so perfect, but at the end of the film, that frustration disappears.

The movie isn't very realistic because I don't think anyone can be that much of a mastermind, but the movie is quite entertaining nonetheless.

By the end of the movie, you will really hate the antagonist.

I recommend this film, if you don't mind some of the frustration that I mentioned.

“Butley” (1974) - Alan Bates reprises his leading role in the stage production in which he plays a witty, yet prickly college literature professor who, in the course of a single day, manages to alienate everyone in his life. The playwright Harold Pinter directed this excellent adaptation of the play by Simon Gray.

I saw Crimson Peak (2015).

This movie is pretty good.

The acting and music are superb.

It's a horror film, set in the 1890's.

It's directed by Guillermo del Toro.

The movie is a little slow, which is to be expected from a period piece.

The movie does have a strong ending, which is always nice.

If it were more tightly edited, I would like the movie even more.

Brilliant movie 8/10

We Broke Up (2021)

It is classified as a comedy, but I didn’t think it was that funny.

Stowaway (2021)

A three-person crew on a mission to Mars faces an impossible choice when an unplanned passenger jeopardizes the lives of everyone on board.

Just finished it. The movie is average, but the plot is somewhat interesting.
The space suits feature LED head lamps, no close ups, but at least they are in the movie.

Only watch if you have nothing else to do, it is a bit of a slow one.

Good plot, Great music, funny. :+1:
.

I was just “flipping through it”, and the bus scene was hilarious!

I saw Oculus (2013).

[One of my favorite movies of all time.]

This movie is really good, and extremely creepy.

The acting and music are excellent.

There isn't a whole lot of plot, but the movie is still quite entertaining and not boring.

It had me on the edge of my seat throughout most of the film.

If you like creepy horror mysteries, check it out.

I Second that for this film I thought it was really good.

Just finished

Trigger Point (2021)

In theory, this could’ve been a good movie. Former special ops unit. Lots of action. Guns. Sniper scene. And a former “agency” is present as well.
But omg, this was a slow and boring movie. The plot is empty and completely foreseeable, nothing exciting ever happens. It is a B movie with a low budget, shot in the middle of nowhere.
