【convoy】H4 and B35AM options are updated

Awesome!

If it takes regular 26650s, one nice thing to do (especially with those long springs) would be to make the tube just a bit longer so that it could take the new 26800s.

Maybe I’m whining, but it seems to me that the black wire (minus the led) is dangerously close to the edge. In your photo you can even see that the edge of the pcb (battery minus) is connected to the led minus. I’m not saying it is so, but this is how it looks.
Needless to say, it can burn the led, because it will get too much current (direct drive)?

The devil is in the details.

You say it yourself; edge is the ground plane. Black wire and edge are connected by copper under the silk screen.

Typically the battery + is directly connected to the LED anode. If the black wire shorted to the edge ring (which is physically connected to the battery -) the would the LED not short directly across the cell, bypassing the driver entirely?

Guess it depends on where the MOSFET is located in the circuit.

Do the new 3A drivers have a constant frequency or alternating frequency strobe?

Where?

They are connected from the outside with a small amount of tin. Look on the photo.

non-PWM

Does a single-cell driver exist for the L6 that is compatible with the new FC40 LED?

But these are using what firmware? Plain old 4 mode with memory that can’t be disabled? A single sided programmable 3A driver would be perfect for a lot of host/LED combinations.

Just a personal proposal
it is possible to add groups modes on the FW for this 3A driver and others, like:
0.1% 1% 10% 40% 100%.
Where 40% mean~1.2A,good for run continuos on S2+
and these groups for limit max current of all type drivers
0.1% 1% 10% 25% 50%
0.1% 1% 10% 30% 60%
0.1% 1% 10% 35% 70%,
Maybe it give more flexibility according to the type of driver, Led and host used

Thanks, but I was asking about the strobe mode, not about PWM.

Just discovered today that the Convoy C8+ is now available in four new colors: red, violet, orange and green. I’m going to need a third C8+. :innocent:

Simon, the point that stephek makes is that light painters hate the tactical (variable frequency) strobe in Biscotti. They rather like a constant frequency strobe.

That orange one may drive me to buy my first C8

Purple is the coolest! Who owns the C8 +, want a warm LED (4000k-4500k) What are your recommendations? So, let’s say, where is the middle ground between brightness, side flare and range? Thank you!

The violet are greyed out, I guess they aren’t ready yet.

Side flare / spill will mainly be determined by the ratio of the reflector width to depth, so I don’t expect much variation in that between different LED’s in the same light.

For balancing brightness and range while having a neutral to warm LED, I’d say the XP-L HI, although it is not listed as available in the new body colors yet.

The U6 4C version will be about 4500K but might have a slight greenish tint.

The U4 7A version will be about 3000K, and should be slightly rosy.

My own preference is to compromise slightly on brightness in favor of high CRI, and get the SST-20 4000K emitter, but my preference should in no way be seen as a knock against the XP-L HI.

Thanks for your advice, FRIEND! This is useful information for me!
