Well that sucks! Were you able to go on your road trip?

Yes. Had to do the road trip on winter tires instead - almost 2,000 miles going south in warm weather on soft winter rubber is far from ideal, but I had no other choice.

How is the audio quality when using the built-in mic?

I have an older Microsoft desktop HD webcam, and people always complain that there is echo when I use the built-in mic while using the laptop’s built-in speakers. The mic picks ups the sound from the laptop’s speakers creating echo.

It hasn't shipped yet, but it's supposed to be here on Tuesday.

I'll let you know once I test it out.

THAT one Landed!
LOL

I still haven't tested out my webcam.

Instead, I ordered more stuff.

My sister is going to cut my hair the next time I need a haircut, so I ordered some accessories that we do not have.

A haircutting cape.

https://www.amazon.com/ForPro-Poly-Chemical-Cape/dp/B01I3NXOCQ

And a neck duster (brush).

https://www.amazon.com/Barber-Cutting-Duster-Professional-Fibaer/dp/B08BLSK3Y9/

Fwiw, I used to have long hair, then got “normal” haircuts, then short haircuts, then got buzzed, but lately with the corovirus shutting down places, waiting for them to open up again, having to make appointments, all those annoyances, a friend who buzzes himself asked me why I bother getting it done vs just doing it myself. Couldn’t think of an answer, so started doing exactly that.

I just close off the sink, lean over, buzz away, then clean it out after.

I gotta hop in the shower after. Otherwise I’m itchy no matter what. :confounded:

In the spirit of the thread, I was using the same buzzy thing (shaver? no. clipper? not really, so…) I’d used to “shave” my face, but it says to not use it on hair-hair. Figured out why, as it leaves loose hair snippets in crevices I never knew it even had. So I got a regular hair-type buzzy thing that’s meant for hair-hair.

’Twas a vipon special, must’ve been a while back ’cause it’s not popping up for me in recent-purchases.

Oh, and the erl that goes with it.

After my haircut, I immediately take a shower as well.

A haircutting cape and neck duster keep some hair off my clothes (and myself), so they're a nice touch.

...

Back when I used to cut my own hair, I did it in the bathtub, in the nude, and showered right after.

My haircuts I gave myself weren't very good, and I don't have a bathtub anymore, so now I have other people give me haircuts.

I set up the webcam and tested it out a little.

What I did was create a Zoom meeting with just myself, and I recorded about a minute of it, and then played back the recording.

The video quality seems pretty good.

The audio quality is decent, and luckily there is no echo.

I'll have to do a real Zoom meeting with a family member to see what they think of the audio quality.

I like the light on the webcam.

It has three brightness levels, and it's easy to use.

The first time I used the built-in light, the webcam turned off and I had to unplug it and plug it back in.

Other than that hiccup, I think the webcam is good enough for me, and it was really easy to set up.

(I didn't even read the instructions.)

...

EDIT:

I decided to read the instructions in case I missed anything.

I didn't.

It's basically plug-and-play.

Thanks for the update, RC.

I broke a pair of craft scissors yesterday that I bought back in 1994.

I decided that I wanted to get at least 3 pairs of craft scissors for $12 or less from Amazon.

I found these for $8 (with an Amazon Prime account) and ordered them today.

https://www.amazon.com/Scissors-iBayam-All-Purpose-Non-Stick-Classroom/dp/B08FSTJQ3Y

My sister currently has Prime, so I used her account.

Not only are the scissors handsome, but they have pretty good feedback for inexpensive scissors.

I received the scissors today.

They are very nice and they are made by iBayam.

That company has similar scissors on Amazon with a lot more feedback.

The similar scissors work for about 80% of left-handed people, according to Amazon feedback.

And I am happy to report that the iBayam scissors that I just got work for my niece, who is left-handed.

So now my family has some excellent scissors (for a change.)

About my webcam:

I did my first real Zoom meeting with it today.

I was told that the audio was fine, and I could tell by myself that the video was great.

The light on the webcam can be off, low, medium, or high.

When the light is on high, the video glitches, so it's best for my webcam to not have the light on high.

(I actually had the light off as I didn't really need to have it on.)

The webcam is good enough (for me) for Zoom meetings.

I have similar problems with my webcam, the light either flickers or makes the video glitch or lag.
Recently I bought a video light: 淘宝网 - 淘!我喜欢

Suddenly everyone could see me in meetings. WFH won’t end anytime soon for us anyway.

That light looks pretty good.

If I thought I needed more light for Zoom meetings, I would get something like that.

Got this hammer/multitool for father’s day. Pretty cool.

Just a couple clips from Mickey

I have a “Turbine Torcher” arriving tomorrow. Looks like a pocket sized flamethrower on YouTube.

Also ordered a couple plasma arc lighters from Amazon

My mom has a bird feeder outside her bedroom window.

She likes to watch the birds eat the bird seed, and her cat is mesmerized by it.

The problem is that we have doves in our area, and they are much larger than the other birds.

She wants to feed the small birds, but not the huge ones.

So she ordered this other bird feeder, and put it up today:

https://www.amazon.com/Gray-Bunny-GB-6860-Birdfeeder-Deterrent/dp/B01MRZH23T

So far, the thing works, and the "flying pigs" can't eat the bird seed.

The doves can't seem to figure that it's impossible for them to use the bird feeder.

It's pretty funny watching them try and fail over and over again.

I wonder if they'll ever finally give up.

Here's a very similar bird feeder:

https://www.amazon.com/FORUP-Squirrel-Outdoor-Birdfeeder-Deterrent/dp/B0834NTKVL

It looks the same, and I wouldn't be surprised if it were manufactured in the same factory.

We think that she'll be buying less bird seed now, which was the primary goal.

After some saving up, I received the Ender 3 V2 3D printer
