WildTrail WT90 - SBT90.2 1800m+ throw 90mm 3x 21700 With Texas_Ace driver

Really cool light, ticks many of the boxes as far as what I like! Is the battery slots machined into the battery tube or does it have one of those plastic battery holder thingies?

The video shows a separate battery carrier with usb powerbank feature

in for a clear anodized.

lol, no worries. I have not seen any signs or even hints that they want to cut corners while working with them. They have insisted on the better option whenever possible thus far. Time will tell long term but in my time working with them I have been very impressed with the commitment to quality.

They are looking into better FET’s in the carrier for future runs, the issue is the footprint it uses now does not have a lot of good FET options, so it might require a redesign of the pcb. I just got the prototype this weekend and point out this issue so they are just starting to look into it. The existing FET’s work fine or I would not of signed off on them, they are just holding back a few hundred lumens if I had to guess.

Moving the charge port to the light itself would be quite difficult and it would be even harder to have it be water resistance / proof as well. Personally I prefer it like this, you get the best of both worlds but I can see why someone would want it on the body as well. It is not impossible but also not easy. It would require a fair amount of redesign. I can bring this up if enough people want it though.

I don’t have anything good around me to demonstrate throw which is why I gave up on it some time back. If VOB can’t do it though I can send it to someone else possibly or I will try my best to get something usable.

I was tempted to suggest a reversing of the silver/black ratio but I asked around and found that a 25-33% ratio of black to silver is pretty common on other lights so left it alone lol.

They did say that making another batch would not take nearly as long, so when he gets on later I will ask if they can ramp up some more silver lights.

The silver ones are clear ano, I have some raw aluminim lights and while they look great at first, I have had some mild tarnishing on some of them. The Ano protects from this and unless you look close still looks like raw. I told them to not bead blast it so you can still see hints of the machine marks if you look closely.

Can confirm, it has Narsil, same firmware as the GT90.

It uses a carrier but it is not plastic, it is all metal construction and has a built in 2A USB C charger / battery bank.

Im in for a silver.

Yes, I DEFINITELY prefer to have charging on the battery carrier, like the K1, it makes for more reliable waterproofing, a better aesthetic, no worn out "boot" over time, and the option to buy back up carriers for easy swap & go.

Yes please, leave the hints of machining and not bead blast, just clear ano aluminum. A new light of mine just came in (ano aluminum) and has machining marks and it really adds a nice aesthetic. my first one didn't have this and i really prefer it.

That battery tube machining / design is awesome!

I would like silver if available!

He is checking to see how long it would take to make more silver since that is what everyone so far has wanted lol.

:+1:

In for a RAW.

Will the high drain cells be best for this light? I have 40T’s & 30T’s

Looks good! Interested for silver or black.

I didn’t see mention of it, but is there a way to ensure the cell carriers can accept flat top batteries? This way standard high drain / high amp 21700’s (30t, 40t, etc). can be used without the need for solder blobs and, even worse, tac welded button tops. Thanks TA

So two or three thoughts here …

3p 21700 is a lot of capacity. 2A is okay, but QC or 3A charging would be ideal. C-C should be a must.

I think that with a light this size, carrier based charging is a choice. For use as a power bank, it is nearly a necessity. My recommendation here is for the development of a plastic enclosure for it. Something from PC ideally but whatever is cost effective and can provide enough protection and containment of the cells for safe use and luggage in a backpack for example.

Lastly is my thoughts on how to make these upgraded parts available. I’d suggest shipping the lights as they are now basically, and offering carrier upgrade kits for early buyers at a super sweet price

Will they include batteries?

In for one clear/silver, thanks.

Interested…

I wonder how long can it last in Turbo mode typically before starting to stepdown (I understand it’s possible to turn off stepdown in Narsil — will that be ‘still safe’ for the flashlight? (this may make the flashlight too hot to hold though… but flashaholics probably understand the trade-off…)

When will they go into regular production and not just group buy?
