WildTrail WT90 - SBT90.2 1800m+ throw 90mm 3x 21700 With Texas_Ace driver

Yep, something like this is what I was thinking as well for those that need a tripod mount. If it is really something that people want I can see if they can make or find one that fits this light well to offer as an option. This should be doable.

VOB is not replying to me, guess he is taking a break, anyone else ya’ll trust you would like me to send the prototype to for review? I have been away for awhile so not sure who is still around.

Yes, those numbers sound very reasonable, also keep in mind that my throw numbers are almost always noticeably lower then others, I got 1Mcd on the GT IIRC while others regularly recorded 1.2Mcd for example.

The aluminum is coated with a clear ano to protect it for this very thing, so no worries!

The bezel is aluminum on the prototype.

I hear you and understand what you are saying. As I said I thought it was going to have a tripod mount until the prototype showed up.

The truth of it is that there is just not enough meat to fit a full sized tripod thread in the current setup without entering the main reflector cavity. Now it is possible that a tripod mount missing a thread or 2 could fit but then not sure if mounts would tighten down properly?

The other issue is size, if they extend the meat to fit the tripod mount, it will increase the grip size which is already large for most people.

I am thinking about practical options for adding a tripod mount. I like to have a viable option before I make a pitch. Put simply I can understand why they left the tripod mount off the light itself seeing the CAD designs and I don’t think I can make a solid case for it to be added all things considered.

That said, I am leaning towards the option of having an optional handle that could be mounted to the light, preferably something pre-made they can simply order but worth case they could make something. This gives the best of both worlds, handle for those that need it and smaller grip for those that don’t.

If people have alternate options I am all ears, I am not saying getting it into the light is impossible, just unlikely. I will have their engineer look into it for sure though.

They actually contacted me but were not interested in the prototype (can’t blame them, it is a different type of review for a prototype). They wanted to review the production model which I think they will be able to work out.

This ?

Update, this one seems to fit all nitecore TM lights that have a 50mm tube diameter

Exactly what I was thinking.

The flat spots on the battery tube at 56.5mm, does anyone know of something that would fit that as is? Or know what size the one in the listing is (although a bit pricier then I would like)?

That would be a lot easier then making something custom.

Can you measure the grip area diameter? Is it similar to the Q8 diameter?

There’s This one from Asstrolux, which is pricey as well. It says its adjustable from 52 to 54 mm diameter.

Liionwholesale.com cancelled my last 2 orders. About 4 ish years ago I got in the Q8 buy and had them shipped but this last year and half No one is shipping up here I even went to some craptastic Vapecells for my 26650s.

I will check IMRbatteries.

It is 56.5mm on the flat spots

Very odd, try imr. There is another site I have ordered from in the past as well but can’t remember it off hand.

https://www.18650batterystore.com/ has been ok for me. These are the top 3 I'm aware of (Liion Wholesale, IMR, 18650 batt store).

Im in for a silver if available.

Yep, that was it.

I really trust Flashoholic, and he does quality reviews. But I don’t know if the prototype thing is different for him?

Regarding the tripod hole, I guess I’m having a hard time understanding why the opposite side of the switch cannot work? If of course the fins weren’t milled out, and it remained a solid chunk of metal? Does leaving that as a solid flat piece effect the grip? It doesn’t seem like it would effect the battery tube?

EDIT: I just watched the video again, especially the first 20 second when they are rotating the upper showing the head and the button hole drilled out, the fins on the back really look like they’d have just enough meat, if left unmilled and flat, for the threading. But when millimeters matter using my eye does no good. I

Agreed!
