Coronavirus **personal experiences** thread

Herd immunity reached.

So the herd stampeded… makes sense now. :stuck_out_tongue:

See? :+1:

So, the other day Dr. Fauci thought that COVID-19 would be under control sometime in 2021.

I think he was probably talking about in the U.S., which might be true, because I don't think COVID-19 will be under control worldwide for years.

Colonel Light, please respect this instruction that I gave you previously.

What’s happening in India is basically what happened initially in Wuhan, Italy, and NYC. India has reached the tipping point where there are more severe cases than available medical care. Once that happens, the death rate jumps because people who could survive with proper medical care are turned away. In NYC and Israel it’s based off vaccinations.

Just like here in NC. The governor has stated that he intends to lift all social distancing and capacity restrictions (and hopefully all outdoor mask requirements) on June 1, as long as vaccination and other metrics stay on track. Even though we haven’t reached herd immunity yet, state officials feel that we’ll be stable enough that our medical care can handle the current levels. At 67% partially vaccinated, the mask mandate will be dropped completely.

I get the running-out-of-medical-care part, but, like, why now? Did they get spring fever and go out’n’about and spread the bug that way? Unless maybe that balloon was still filling and filling and filling all this time and just took ’til now to pop.

Around here, the d-bags are rousing from their Winter Slumber and revving up their motorcycles (riding them up’n’down both ways on a one-way street, yet), so you know they’ll be firing up their grills and packing 50 people into one backyard for Superspreader Sunday. :person_facepalming:

Variants, political rallies, religious events and people believing they had already beaten Covid-19.

Although I suspect some of my current problems may possibly be associated with CTE (25years). Some of the symptoms are similar and having Covid may have exacerbated some of the those symptoms I previously had and continue to have with CTE. I know both affect the brain……
:confounded:

Why the CTE if you don’t mind my asking, Coscar? Play impact sports or….?

A variety of serious head injuries. At least 8 I can remember(if I had my list in front of me) but I suspect more. No I didnt play football.
Different vehicle accidents …… motorcycles, several cars/trucks and even bicycles…. A Skiing accident, Framing- fell off top plate- head to concrete, several bar room brawls involving pool sticks and beer bottles over the head and having my unconscious head kicked around the bar room floor(sore loser). As you can imagine all are different and long stories ranging from age 12 till my last truck accident(trying to miss a deer) in 2001 when I was 52. My truck flipped 3 times(I was told) and I was thrown out. I had brain ‘juice’ coming out of my ears for 2 weeks …. that one affected me the most. Thing with CTE is with each additional injury the damages get worse. Its nasty and the only way it can be properly diagnosed is after you die they can see the Tau protein when they cut open your brain. Very frustrating symptoms but after living with it for 25years I have learned to co-exist. I do suspect having Covid may have caused me to back slide a bit but not sure how much it is responsible for my continued problems. It is very difficult for me to separate the symptoms.

I figure If I were a cat, at best, I only have a couple of lives left…… I AM lucky to be here.
I look at my current post covid situation as a ‘free ride’.
It could have easily turned out different.
Like I have always said …… I got my money’s worth in this life a Long time ago.
But………. It IS good to be alive.

I remember Junior Seau, an NFL great, took his own life after battling with CTE. Shot himself in the chest so that his brain could be studied and hopefully the NFL would began compensating former players who had become victims to this cumulative affliction.
You, sir, have been dealt a lousy hand between the CTE and now the Covid. I truly admire you for your upbeat attitude and acceptance. I hope you have many enjoyable years in front of you.

Got my second shot of the Pfizer vaccine this past Wednesday at Citifield.
I thought I was going to be waiting a long time seeing as New York opened up the vaccine for everyone at this point but it was eerie not seeing even 1/3 of the amount of people when I was there for my first shot.
So far so good. No side effects other than the proverbial sore arm. I was a little concerned being I am asthmatic.
My father was avoiding the shot but now he figures enough people had their vaccinations so he might as well go get his shot but now I`m concerned since he has multiple myeloma.
I know his condition puts him at risk because of a suppressed immune system but I am a little worried about any side effects he might experience.

Congrats on getting your second shot. One of my kids and I had flu like symptoms from the second shot but that only lasted a day for both of us. I know of others who had the same symptoms but the longest lasting was only for 2 days.

Hope that helps some with deciding on getting the second shot.

Nice. Do you have a source for it?

Thanks Bushmaster…. Because of the way they affect folks brains, belief and understanding from others is very important dealing with both of these illness’s.

in my case fortunately not bad ones, but has a sore throat & cough for almost a month after.

Got my 2nd Pfizer shot yesterday, only side effects were sore arm, fatigue and stuffy nose.

Looking forward to getting my 2nd Pfizer shot this Friday.
