Fireflies E07 Copper vs regular differences. (mini review)

Disclaimer: sometimes manufacturers revise. The E07 was bought q2 2019 (and should be a v2), and the Copper was bought q1 2021

Washed that off with some Hornady One Shot lube (similar performance to Frog lube)

2nd thing I noticed, why did they include a regular lanyard? There’s nowhere to put it, the hole on the fins is not good for anything but a string…

3rd thing I noticed, the beam is a bit more focused (and less smooth) than the original which has 25 deg TIR. Like 10-15% narrower. You can even see the LED looks slightly larger through the optic.

Is the optic just farther from the LED? The lens doesn’t look different to my bad eyes.

#4, the switch is tighter (and harder to press - similar to the new buck driver series)

Lastly, just a minor complain, aux and switch LED color weren’t what I ordered, but not worth fussing over.

Update: Got around to taking both apart for a closer inspection. The TIR is unquestionably different, as is the PCB

As a thought, if you didn’t get the right aux and switch colour (which is something i would personally want sorted) did you get the main LEDs you asked for? I don’t know if there are options but a different LED could account for the difference in beam. Your pic isn’t sharp enough for me to see though they look like quite different tints.

Unmistakeable rosy tint of 219b. they aren’t “on”, the aux emitters are just different brightness

I just tested it, specs are very similar to my other 219b’s, but the duv seems lower (maybe from copper body)

Odd that was said, considering there was so much paste that lifting the optic revealed a ton on its pegs…

Regarding your first observation (gritty tail threads), my NOV-MU (delivered this March) had the same problem. I suspect the tools for making the square cut threads are worn out, causing uneven or gritty edges.

Did lube help? I tried high end grease, but it still felt rough. Only after I used high-grit sand paper to smooth rough edges out, it was smooth.

I didn’t mean the threads are rough, I literally meant they had dark grit in them, used a toothbrush to wash that junk out if i remember right

The nov-mu turns on as you screw the head on, anodization is not conductive…this shouldn’t occur, normally. Nov-mu doesn’t have square threads on the anodized side, you should not be unscrewing the unanodized back end. It’s kinda bizarre they didn’t use square threads on both sides
