Coronavirus **personal experiences** thread

Got my second shot of the Pfizer vaccine this past Wednesday at Citifield.
I thought I was going to be waiting a long time seeing as New York opened up the vaccine for everyone at this point but it was eerie not seeing even 1/3 of the amount of people when I was there for my first shot.
So far so good. No side effects other than the proverbial sore arm. I was a little concerned being I am asthmatic.
My father was avoiding the shot but now he figures enough people had their vaccinations so he might as well go get his shot but now I`m concerned since he has multiple myeloma.
I know his condition puts him at risk because of a suppressed immune system but I am a little worried about any side effects he might experience.

Congrats on getting your second shot. One of my kids and I had flu like symptoms from the second shot but that only lasted a day for both of us. I know of others who had the same symptoms but the longest lasting was only for 2 days.

Hope that helps some with deciding on getting the second shot.

Nice. Do you have a source for it?

Thanks Bushmaster…. Because of the way they affect folks brains, belief and understanding from others is very important dealing with both of these illness’s.

in my case fortunately not bad ones, but has a sore throat & cough for almost a month after.

Got my 2nd Pfizer shot yesterday, only side effects were sore arm, fatigue and stuffy nose.

Looking forward to getting my 2nd Pfizer shot this Friday.

My parents took their first shot (Pfizer) yesterday!
So far they only have that “sore arm” feeling! :+1:

Just got my second Pfizer shot yesterday. Customer woke me up this AM and I think I am OK today;-) Sore arm like the first one but that is it so far! Can’t wait to be dancing again!

I get my second (Moderna) shot tomorrow.

In about two weeks, I'll be fully immunized, and then I'll report on any side effects that I may have.

Some statistics would be nice, maybe like a poll where BLF members can report if they encountered any side effects. Or would that be be too easy to compromise or could that be considered as too controversial. I am not sure. Maybe SB can chime in to tell what he thinks? :-)

Something like this was on my mind…

Which vaccine did you receive and did you have any significant side effects (feeling really sick, blood clots/thrombosis, high temperature)?

Comment: The order of appearance is purely coincidental, if anyone should wonder.

Second option for Biontech, Thomas. Only 7 hours since first shot and already feel sick.

`Around here, the d-bags are rousing from their Winter Slumber and revving up their motorcycles (riding them up’n’down both ways on a one-way street, yet), so you know they’ll be firing up their grills and packing 50 people into one backyard for Superspreader Sunday. :person_facepalming:

Ugh, I miss the quiet when we had curfew. Now all I hear late night is the `Fast and Furious` wannabees racing up and down the main avenue.

Got ’em here, too. Yesterday someone had a crotchrocket revving to 12k or so, and you hear what to me sound like dune-buggies racing somewhere around here.

I miss the days when people would actually race down Review or Laurel Hill Blvd but block off the roads to make sure no one would be around to get into any wrecks, but these jackasses just go racing down regular streets, and one day someone is gonna get creamed.

I thought down by you, you had HWY3 planted practically every few blocks looking for that kinda thing.

One good thing about living in the middle of nowhere is that we get very little traffic on our street.

Also, part of our street is a dirt road, and if you continue on it very far, it gets dangerous, so that cuts down on traffic as well.

A problem in our housing community is short-term rentals.

Some people that do the short-term rentals party all the time and play loud music.

The sheriff's department gets called out pretty frequently, but I guess they aren't very effective if the partiers keep on partying.

Luckily this doesn't happen near our house very often, but it could in the future because one of the closest houses to our home is a short-term rental property.

Dead quiet in my town. Today saw a patrol car slowwwly moving about the back alley, did a U turn and so slowly came back on it’s tracks. In 35+ years, 3rd time I see cops in the backstreets. They’re showing their presence and enforcing the stay-home curfew. People don’t dare openly chat about from their balconies, go to the parks or do anything that could lead to a hefty fine. We’re all very confused as to what we can or can’t do. There are provincial regulations and then the municipal keeps changing the conditions of open activities. Also, the media with the uprising stats gives you the shivers. In this part of nowhere, people aren’t defiant.

But, I do like the peace and the daily humdrum of motorists has faded from memory.

Wait… what?? This is in Canada?

Huh… lookit that. Just goggled it, and whaddya know.

Last time I was in Montreal was when I was back in college. Had to dodge velociraptors back then, too.

That sounds a little heavy handed to me. A year ago when the lock down first hit, a few reports of police stopping motorists and issuing tickets for driving out of their area for no good reason. Public outcry seemed to have stopped that or it went unreported because that was the last I heard of it. Our local District Att. said he would not be prosecuting that type of crime.

The one good thing about the pandemic has been the lowering of noise from the neighboring apartment complex. In the last several years, they were having pool parties with large sound systems blasting music so loud that I could not use my phone in my apartment, or hear my television or a radio. It was headache-inducing, and it want on for hours. When I went over there to ask them to turn down the volume, I got blank stares and nasty looks in response. The apartment management said they told their tenants they could play music as loud as they wanted to, and they were not going to ask them to stop doing that. The police said they couldn’t enforce the noise ordinance before the time listed in the law (11:00pm) for general noise complaints. They ignored the part of the ordinance saying that playing sound reproduction devices producing noise across property boundaries is illegal.

I had to call the city, which helped by having an official call the apartment complex managers and explain the law to them. The city told me I have to call the police first, then call the city, if I want their help. The apartment complex managers allegedly said they would tell their tenants about the law, but I doubt they are going to hold their tenants accountable, based on recent events.

During the pandemic, there have not been any such pool parties, but there was recently a picnic in the grassy area just outside my window, with very loud music for hours. I bought a decibel meter to get ready for the summer, when I expect the pool parties to begin again. It creates graphs and reports of all the measurements. I figure I need good evidence, as the city didn’t seem enthusiastic about helping me in the past. The police say they are not responding to noise complaints during the health emergency.

The city says it has drafted a new noise ordinance, but when they did a first draft over a year ago, I looked at it and found that it was all based on decibel limits and left out any provision that would have applied to the pool parties or picnics on the grassy areas. I told them at the time that they can’t expect us to all have decibel meters, and that there were huge gaps in the new ordinance. I gave them a detailed explanation of why the gaps were a problem. I hope the new draft law is better. It will be released soon.

I think if noise disturbance is your biggest issue you’re doing okay.

I’m sorry to hear about the ongoing lockdowns and curfews going on in any part of the world. Non-action and over-compliance in this situation could be a dangerous precedent I’m afraid. I hope people speak out and draw lines in the sand for preservation of life for those still living.
