Another Problem with Convoy M21B

Light just purchased. The tail-cap and/or switch seems intermittent. When I click it on , sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. While its on, it may turn off by itself. Clicking through the modes, does not always work. When it turns off on its own, tapping on the tail cap seems to solve the problem.

I am all for low prices, but these Convoy Q/C issues are really getting annoying. I would gladly pay an extra $5 per light and not have these random issues.

Check the retaining ring in the tailcap and make sure it is tight.

Never had any problems with Convoy’s that couldn’t be fixed easily.

How do you tighten it? Any special tool?

You can use snap ring pliers (I don’t recommend using any kind of tweezers, they can’t stand the torque you need to really tighten that ring). Just mind that the threading on the retaining ring is reversed, i.e. it screws in counterclockwise.

See those two little holes (opposite each other) in the retaining ring… Insert snap ring pliers into those and make sure the ring is snug.

You can also use needle nose pliers if the tips are small enough.

Tweezers will work also, just don’t over torque it past what the tweezers can hold up to.

Hope this helps. :heavy_check_mark:

Ok, thanks gents.

Our pleasure… Let us know if that was it.

For years I just used two small nails I cross over and twist. I still do that if the holes are too small on some models

Wait, not all convoy’s had reversed thread. There are some with clockwise thread. I think the reversed thread only for S series, CMIIW.

One other thing to check is good battery contact. I’m not sure about your model but my M3-C has a very long battery tube. I had to stretch the tail spring to make good contact.
