review: Maxtoch Xsword L2K LEP flashlight (2021 edition) reaching over 3km

Makes sense. Thank you for your insight. Did some light Googling after you replied and found this photo of a piece of the internals of the Acebeam W30 posted by Vin on Candle Power Forums:

Even though it’s a different flashlight and manufacturer, the inner outline of that piece is dead on for the shape I’m seeing projected onto my diffuser. The Xsword L2K must have very similar internals. Thank you for your help.

+1 !

Ah, yes, that makes sense. The shape of the glass is likely the reason for that!

I’m curious why the hotspot is not round but has a flat part to it on the edge. I haven’t seen anything that I think would cause it. I’ll do more investigating though as I haven’t looked too hard.

I think its caused by what you see in post #58

Oh wait, you’re absolutely right :person_facepalming: for some reason I didn’t notice that edge when I opened up mine

Oh wow, here we go the X sword l3k debuted on Maxtoch’s you tube channel a few hours ago. Contradictions in the title page and the video’s specs, but it seems 650 lumens and 3000 meters.

Oh no! Now i have to buy that one!

I just bought the L2K with coupon (Thankyou)
Ive requested on Maxtoch Aliexpress the L3K stating I am willing to pay the difference but I think L2K may have already been shipped.

Update: I just got reply from Maxtoch stating L2K has been shipped.
When my L2k arrives I will compare it against my Astrolux WP2.

I don’t think anybody who had an L2K would notice the extra 300 meters of beam distance anyways. Also seems like the beam is very blue compared to the L2K version. L2K is nice and warmish.

Yes. Also ChibiM measured the L2K at 3167m. I wonder if this one is actually any better?

I was able to purchase the long 2x21700 battery body tube from Maxtoch for $15! I had purchased the short version, and reached out to Maxtoch through the Aliexpress.com message center to ask them if the longer tube was for sale by itself. They were able to hook me up with the tube for $15 USD total. Very happy I have the option to utilize the over 3 hour run time in high mode :+1:

Wow!
I was asking the opposite, they said they couldnt help me!

Strange…

They might slowly be becoming more open to selling parts. I found this Reddit post from 3 days ago claiming Maxtoch is sending the original poster a replacement convex lens and glass filter for $15.

It almost sounds like the filter is CLEAR glass? I asked about buying a plain glass filter a month ago when I requested the longer tube, and Maxtoch told me they don’t offer one. Hm.

It seems as though Vinh from Skylumen is insinuating the aspheric lens is plastic as well. He doesn’t say the lens is plastic, but he’s recommending a glass filter over it for protection.

Here’s a link to the glass lens he’s using: http://kaidomain.com/S021964-54_8mm-D-x-2mm-T-Multi-Layer-AR-Coated-Lens-1-pc

I bought that one from KD, it fits, but there is some play due to being a bit smaller than the original plastic lens cover.

Also the red bezel barely has threads to hold a lens.
I 2nd the build quality being suboptimal.

I can confirm the aspheric lens is indeed plastic. I wiped with a camera lens cloth, because it got wet and it made the coating come off. I have a replacement on the way as well, but my overall assessment of build quality is meh. The battery tube rattles horribly and the optics plain suck IMO. That said,I am pleased with the output and I really wish they would sell a short tube.

Hi, X Sword L3K Received today
At night, compare with Weltool W4 and compare irradiation

Nice! Looking forward to some measurements!

I should also have 1 on the way.. curious how it stacks up against the L2K.
