Recommendations for a spotlight to scare off wildlife at night?

she kept barking and I kept researching, found this site which allows searching by parameters:

http://flashlights.parametrek.com/index.html?lumens=1400,_&blink=beacon,direct%20strobe,flashing,hidden,strobe&intensity=250000,_&throw=1000,_&led_color=neutral%20white,white

SF47T comes up at the top (cheapest)

and seems to have a fairly good review here:

also looked at the Convoy C8 and L21A

https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/64830

but not sure about purchasing off AliExpress, long shipping and no easy returns... the SF47T is available from Amazon

The GT mini is a very nice light. But if size and weight are no problem, I would get a Convoy L6 with the XHP70.2 led.
Just pass on the batteries and get some quality ones. You will need a charger too.

thanks, could not find any info about range/throw for the L6, do you know what it might be? or how the L6 throw compares to the L21A which is advertized at over 1000m?

I found somewhere mentioned that the usable throw range is about 30% of ANSI. so if I need about 600ft, I should be looking at about 600m, is that correct?

also, where do I find quality 26650 batteries? how do I know they are high quality?

I can recommend the TrustFire T70 with 2300lm, 1000m, XHP35, direct strobe through mode memory, and 2x18650.

Same with T62, just a bit over 600m, XHP70.2 and 3800lm, OPR. Regulated at 2500lm.

This light gets very good performance like you stated. I do not have one, so I cannot compare it to my lights. In the video, it has a tiny beam size, and that is how it gets its throw, by intensity combined with small size equals distance. However its lack of light volume is disappointing. See the CPF review video below.

If you want to scare animals at night, get a bb gun, mount this Convoy light on it and shoot them in the behind.
.
Here is a review on the Convoy L6 XHP70.2 with an Smooth reflector which is a thrower. Matt’s web sight is down for repair, but he offeres the best L6 modded you can find. :+1: http://asflashlights.com/
XHP70.2 Convoy L6 4,300 Lumen
.
I prefer the XHP 70.2 because its very powerful, but does not throw as far by the numbers, but throws more volume of light at a decent distance. To get more light, you deal with HEAT. So these lights need a Husky Body to dissipate the heat. The L6 is Hefty.
I prefer throwers and most of my lights are. There is much advertising for distance in flashlights. The problem is, can you actually see anything with a light that states it can throw 2400 meters ? I have been there and was very disappointed in the actual performance. So I modded it to a XHP 70.2 and after the first mod it dropped to 1800 meters with 4x more light volume down stream.

I only use this one.

Wildlife tuned to see in the dark unless they fly wilk usually just stand there as they can’t see a damn thing. What gets them moving as mentioned is noise, that triggers a response to move on as it replicates danger coming towards them. I’m constantly scari f off kangeroos off my lawn & noise or throwing an object near them scares them off.

Hate to tell ya but skunks are nearly blind. They go more by sound, smell, and feeling with their front paws.

I thought this cell was being discontinued awhile ago. Did they decide to keep making it?

.
They still have 323 pcs in stock. I did not know it was discontinued. Thanks :+1:

Just get the Convoy L21A with Osram CULPM1, it gets 600m easily to identify a deer. It’s a top seller for hunters here in New Zealand.

If you click on my YouTube channel check out the Osram L21A demo, the re-uploaded one

It will identify them but it wont scare them away,

If you think the L21A is too narrow then grab the Astrolux FT03 SST40 which is also plenty.

Beam comparison of the L21A and FT03 Imgur: The magic of the Internet

He’s only after 600ft not 600m which would be way more intense/bright at the center than the L6

The L6 is a lot less range, less bright, it just has a much wider beam

Bottle-rockets.

we have a refillable/rechargeable marine horn which works wonderfully... scares away the coyotes and scares the dog into the house to mommy.

however, we use it in emergencies only, when the coyotes are near the fence and are howling mad

the idea behind the light was to find something quieter to allow for a "better night's sleep"...

I like the one on the right, with the narrower beam. however, since my harebrained idea might not work, I want to purchase from a place I can easily return, Amazon... and the only place I found the L21A was AliExpress, too long shipping time, and no easy returns...

since as some pointed out, my idea of a bright light might not work, I am going to purchase something that I can return, i.e. from Amazon.

rules out the L21A since it is only available from AliExpress

I also ruled out the TrustFire T70 since it is over my budget (as are the Noctigon K1 and the Nitecore P30i)

Amazon has a CCC (Cheap Chinese Crap) with a whopping 6000 lumen for under $23 after a price drop and 6% off coupon.

https://amazon.com/gp/product/B07BQCNB16

I also got the SF47T for $70 (after $10 coupon)

both should arrive tomorrow, and I'll report what I find out...

I will still monitor this for more advice and suggestion, but less frequently...

thanks all

If you have the space try a shock fence. On your side of the fence or better yet the other side.

purchased one, did not install it yet, the intention is to put it on angled arms (not sure if that's the correct terminology, but the arms on which you would normally put barbed wire on) on top of the fence

https://www.lowes.com/pd/Galvanized-Metal-Fence-Barbed-Wire-Arm-Chain-link-Fence/1000006420

to complete the circuit, the critter will need to also touch the electric ground, so my plan is to make the entire existing fence "ground" and insulate the hot wire from the arms/fence.

we got this for safety, on the other hand, in over 20 years, never seen a coyote climb into our side, though skunks and opossums obviously made it... so far miss little monster was able to defeat these with only minor battle scars on her nose/cheeks

but this will not make her stop barking at critters outside the fence...

thanks,
