Possible standoff in progress near my family's house

Looks like the standoff is over.

From Nextdoor...

The authorities told the suspect that they were going to throw a gas bomb into his house and that it would be uninhabitable for three days. They threw it in, it made a very loud noise and he immediately came out of the house.

...

The above happened about half an hour ago.

...

(I presume that he got arrested once he left his house.

That's generally what happens.)

Since I think this part of the incident is over, it's nice to have at least some closure before I try to get some rest.

I'm still kinda shaken up, but I'm also getting sleepy (again) so I'm going back to my room and getting ready for bed.

Maybe a quick game of COD to calm the nerves perhaps?? :D

good to hear nothing happened to you or your family.

Glad to hear it worked out.

You have less lights than i do

Yah, no one could possibly connect that name with the guy who walks around town wearing a Shatner/Kirk/Myers mask…

I’ve never had that situation happen around here but, that would be a time to turn off all the lights, grab a weapon of your choice, and sit quietly somewhere outside with a good view of your surroundings. I am not very good at playing run and hide.

glad it is over and glad RC is OK.

Between COD and Doom Eternal, I can’t pick.

Eternal looks quite interesting! Dig the suit he wears. Especially that lance/probe thing that shoots out of the suit on the arm area. Hmmm gonna give the game a go. :smiling_imp:

:+1:

In my part of the world I can guarantee I’ll be holding more than a baseball bat if they come in my house

Yep… that is how it works in my parts of the world too. We NEVER take a knife or baseball bat to a gun fight, potential gun fight, or any kind of fight for that matter.

We take a variety of tools with triggers. :white_check_mark:

This thread has me looking at a Bullpup

Make sure you’re polite and let them inside first ——

Here in Missouri we don’t have to let them in first. I’m sure it would help though.

Same! We had a dangerous prisoner escape in the county one time. They suspected he came into our more rural area of the TN mountains. They were warning us mountain people to lock cars and doors so he couldn’t find an easy getaway vehicle. :person_facepalming: Well….mountain people don’t lock doors….

I wanted to meet him and give him back to the Sheriff’s Department…but it never worked out… he was eventually caught.

Rest well raccoon. That’s if you don’t get woken up with some outside neighbor flash bang noise or something.

Actually I just remembered that I also experienced a stand-off just not too long ago. Yes I was outside again in the backyard late at night relaxing. Laying in the hammock and soaking in the moon rays.

All of sudden I heard a commotion like some kinda bassy growling noise. It became more intense and it was just coming from over the fence in this wooded walkway/alley kind thing about 50’ away. Looked over the fence and it was a gaze of raccoons and surfeit of skunks! Apparently, skunks and raccoons don’t get along at all. Well they departed they merry way and all’s well that ends well.

Be glad they didn’t up up shooting at each other and you ending up in the smelly crossfire :confounded:

I was sure this story would make the news, but I don't think it has yet.

I Googled:

Silver Spur standoff Palm Desert

and found nothing about last night.

Silver Spur is a mobile home park just east of where I live, a housing community called the Cahuilla Hills.

I feel crummy today, probably because I was stressed out last night.

(I don't handle stress very well.)

The suspect's name is Dr. Wilson, and that's the name that I censored out in the OP.

From Nextdoor:

"He is a retired dentist

About 11 years ago he had a Very serious motorcycle accident that left him with many surgeries and in crazy pain.

Over the years he has called 911 on himself when he has mixed his pain less with alcohol!

The gun situation is worrisome though. I’m sure he is somewhere getting mentally evaluated today.

In most instances he is a congenial guy. Hope he gets the help he needs. And yes, it was a long night!"
