【convoy】H4 and B35AM options are updated

Awesome!, the 3x21 host Looks fantastic! Really like the body knurling!

so, question- are the sst40 and sft40 version 3x emitters? I wasn't expecting that !

also, is there a 3x21 sbt90 too? Or still waiting on that?

nice work Simon!

agreed! Battery size / setup don't matter to me, but head size yes! And please a deeper reflector than the 90mm sofirn sp70, so it would have solid range. Honestly, id like to see a Convoy with a 100mm+ head and 3x21700. I just got the WildTrail WT90, but I'd like to see Simon do this but with a Osram CULPM1 option.

no manufacturer makes a 100mm+ reflector thrower with a Osram, and the appropriate driver (8amp, 5amp for cslnm1). I know maybe most would want a larger led, but I would be very interested in a 100mm head SUPER thrower with an osram, or sft40 .

Completely agree, aux LEDs are not necessary, and just add to cost, failure rate, and require a complex UI. This is the opposite to Convoy lights which are usually cheap, reliable, and simple to use. If users want aux lights there are plenty of lights from Emisar, Noctigon, and Fireflies.

as much as I love my lights with aux leds and display them together, I agree with you here. I'm not looking for auxiliary leds from my super reliable Convoy lights. Maybe a lighted switch which I always appreciate. That's enough

no SFT40 5000K available currently.
You can put 21*1.5mm O-rings on the outside of the 18650 battery, but the 18650 battery is too short to fit.
i dont have suitable driver for FC40 currently

uh ,the bigger head for SBT90.2?

I’m going to have to complain just a little. Those are teaser pictures. Can you give us a little better photos, please. You know reflector, threads, inside the body tube.

yes, reflector please! And yes, battery tube too

Question is the SFT-40 the domeless version of the SST-40? Same voltage and footprint as the SST and XML?

Is the SFT-70 the Luminus domeless version of the Cree XHP-70 same 12 voltage and footprint as the XHP-70?

Anyone have the Spec sheet for those leds?

Thanks

That or Osram. The Kaidomain has a large opening for the sbt90.

See post #4861

Luminus’ numbers refer to the LED’s emitting area. SST-70/SFT-70 means 7 square mm. SST-20 means 2 square mm.

The 7 in cree’s XHP70 means a 7mm by 7mm pad footprint.

I don’t believe that’s correct. The SST-70 is a 5 sq mm package. The emitting area is only slightly larger than the SST-40.

It should be correct as the SST70 consists of four SST20 led dies which are 2 square mm each, for a total of 8 square mm. You need to consider that the footprint is 5x5 mm, so 25mm². 7mm² is 2.65mm at each side so it fits well.

But you are right, 2.65mm die lenght for the SST70 and 2mm for the SST40 is quite a small difference.

A 5mm square is 25mm². SST-40 certainly is 4mm² (2mm*2mm). Square root of 7 is ~2.65. So yes, the side length it’s only slightly larger, but area nearly double.

Ah, I see. Thanks

Aux LEDs serve me 2 purposes:

  • they indicate voltage (by changing colour)
  • they tell me whether the light is locked out (If they are dim, the light is locked out)

Both things are of huge importance to me.
But at the same time:

  • These are the fanciest indicators but neither the cheapest nor the simplest ones. A switch RGB LED would work exactly as well.
  • My fork of Andruil puts heavy emphasis on lockout. Maybe a simpler Convoy UI doesn’t need it at all

So…I somewhat agree with what was said before, AUX lights don’t really fit the Convoy’s quality at budget price niche. At the same time I find voltage indication to be of huge value and I suggest Simon that you evaluate options to make it accessible to customers.

Simon:

  • I can't find any trace of a 3x21A flashlight, yet posts date back to September on it being in production. Am I missing or mis-understanding something?
  • You listed a 3x21A available with a P2 bin SST-40, are those available or will be available for purchase separately, and are they 6500K or 5000K?

Thanks!

Voltage indicator is always useful.
More than Aux Leds and considering that Emisar don’t want made a quad light with adjustable temperature, I wish for quality LEDs bin below BBL that provide a wide range temperature like Nichia E21A start from 2000k to 5000k
And a regulated Driver with smooth ramp with each channel adjustable from sublumen and No PWM

Flat-to-Top head plastic adapter for battery is being produced, and it will take about two days.
