Trustfire T4 with mysterious LED.

. I ordered Trustfire T4 a week ago and it arrived at my work place yesterday. I didn’t have much time to mess with it during my work but I noticed it’s LED is quite strange. When I went back to my room, I compare it with TK15ue and it’s obvious that Trustfire T4 is not using XP-l hi. Infact, Trustfire site or it’s manaul never mention what LED they use in this model.

. How ever, the bezel is not glued. I can change the LED if I want to. Eventhough this mysterious led’s die is bigger than XP-L HI, it’s performance is not so bad, IMHO.
. Here’s wall shot comparison between TK15ue onthe left and T4 on the right. T4 spot is brighter but have yellow corona around hot spot

. And the last, a pic of T4 and my new cat that I met this morning.

. He is already in my room when I arrived! My wife brought him here. I asked my wife about this guy and why bring him here. It turn out to be a silly story lol(I won’t write the detail here) but today I got a new flashlight and a new cat.

It seems a Cree XHP35 HI

I’m not so sure. Since Trust fire don’t give any info and It’s price is cheap(around 30:money_mouth_face: with Trustfire 3500mah battery included, this make me think they probably use an unbranded cheap chinese LED.

No idea about the LED, but my 2 were outside cats and are now inside cats.

You may be right, as there are no wires on that led. And for that price, it can be a non CREE led.
Still, it is larger than the XP-L, like the XHP35.

Hope you like it, though

Yes, I like it. It’s looks like a good modding host too but I will use it like this for a while.

A few of the new Trustfires use Match CA-18 emitters (as do a few Fenix’s). This is clearly not the CA18 as it’s far too large, but it may be another offering from Match.

EDIT: The ratio of LES to package size and general emitter appearance (no visible bond wires or connection points, similar phosphor texture, etc.) is similar to my Match CA18. While this obviously doesn’t mean I’m necessarily correct about the MFG, it makes it a possibility in my books.

Thanks for the info, Cythras.
Whatever LED in this T4 is, from it’s output/die size, this led is not for thrower. And it’s runtime graph from Budda’s review, seems like it doesn’t has low Vf either. I still can’t find any advantage of this led. What a shame. :stuck_out_tongue:

How’s that going? Tried that when I had cats and it didn’t work out. Cats drove me crazy yowling and trying to claw their way out.

Castration.

They get along, mostly. Oy, gotta back up to the beginning, unfortunately.

Joel was the first outside cat. Just showed up one day, I gave him food, he stuck around. Was able to get him into the hallway at first, usually only on cold/rainy days. Then I’d let him inside, he’d eat, sleep, eat, sleep, etc., ’til either I’d boot him out before going to sleep or he’d want out on his own. At one point, he didn’t want to leave, and I didn’t have the heart to boot him out on a rainy night, so he’d often stay ’til morning. No litterbox or anything, so he was smart enough to “hold it in” ’til wanting to go out. He was a regular for about 2yrs.

Coraggio just showed up one day, a bag of bones. I mean emaciated. I’d put out food, he’d nibble a bit, then walk away. Nibble a bit more a while later, and walk away again. Friendly as can be. 2nd day, same thing. 3rd day, screw it, I took him to the vet, had 2 big angry growths in his mouth that already started bleeding, so no wonder why he couldn’t eat. 800bux later (operation, bad teeth pulled, regular bath, flea bath, wadded-up gum removed from between his toes, and a full blood panel), and I got my first healthy ~7yo inside cat. Wasn’t gonna rescue him from the Jaws Of Death only to have him get smooshed by a car, so he was inside for good at that point.

Anyway, he was my first, and took right to indoor life, never tried to make a break for it. Got a gouge taken out from his ear, so he probably ended up at Dr Hackemoff at some point.

Back to Joel, he was always getting into fights with other cats… and losing. At least I hope he was losing, ’cause if he were winning, I’d hate to see how the other cats fared. Got raked on his head, which healed, popped open, healed, popped open, etc., a few times. This last time, he got raked but good, 2 deep gashes in his shoulder which cut “right into the musculature”, and a puncture wound that got infected to where the entire side of his head and neck swelled up like a balloon. Another 750bux later, and he came home all stitched up with a Cone Of Shame to keep him from mischief. But oh, that first night, he pulled that cone off his head, fell off the windowsill, was like a caged wild-animal in a panic at that point. Had to dope him up on anti-anxiety meds (just once, couldn’t keep doing that to him), but still he was trying to claw his way out.

He finally got used to inside life, too, but each one thought of the other as the interloper, so while they didn’t fight, they did hiss at each other constantly. Eventually, they’d chase each other around, but to play, not kill each other. And Joel, always the silent type, started trilling nonstop (looked it up, at you it’s to get your attention, at nothing in particular it’s just that he’s happy).

Oh, Coraggio will still growl and hiss if he’s on the windowsill and Joel wants to climb up there, and sometimes their “playing” gets a bit out of hand, but they do kinda pal around together. Just takes a long time for them to get used to each other.

So yeah, they do play, taking turns chasing each other through the entire house (usually right after I knock off to go to sleep :expressionless: ), and even play-fight by kinda bitch-slapping each other in slo-mo, unless one/both get edgy and start clawing for real. Just gotta watch them, and chastise them if they’re getting too rough.

Some people don’t understand why anyone would put up with that. My male cat was a fighter and perpetual loser and often came home torn up. I would’ve signed him up for Cat Karate lessons if they’d been available. I’m pretty familiar with draining and disinfecting abscesses.

I’ve got a rabbit now. It was supposed to be my daughters bunny. She begged for it and promised to feed it and clean up for it but that didn’t happen, so now it’s my rabbit I guess. She’s actually turned out to be a great pet. She’s house broken, has the run of the house and is surprisingly smart, affectionate and playful. Really hates cats though. She’s sitting at my feet as I type this.

Wellp, Joel was and still is to a good extent, pretty feral and would use “instinct” before thought. Eg, if he has a sore spot somewhere and I’m petting him, he could go from purring and trilling to instant scratch-with-claws out if I get that spot. And he’s smart, so after getting taken twice in the catbox, he was determined to not let there be a third time, so I couldn’t even take him to get his stitches out.

I ended up doing only 1 or maybe 2 at a time before he’d pull away like crazy, taking over a month to get ’em all out. The last few were “lubricated” with pus because they were in for so long, but as soon as I’d bring up the catbox, he’d be invisible, even for food. He’d sneak a meal after I went to sleep.

Normally, I can’t even go near him with a tissue to wipe away eye-snot, let alone try to drain an abcess. That’d be a small miracle here.

Dunno if I could trust a bunny. Likely to murder me in my sleep…

led looks cheap chinese to me but i am no expert

when they mount directly to a white ckt board, that make it seem ‘cheap chinese’

Asked the german TF rep: It’s in the manual (as always with TF lights). It’s called CA3-3K …

… allthough looks more like a ZA3-3K, according to Agros pictures.

Edit: Goto the manufacturer site and search for Torchlight LEDs

CCT: 5700-8000, CRI 70, Fv 3.4V, 1100 lm/3A

Wow! Thanks a lot. :+1:

Match CA-18? I used to know this LED as a Genesis Photonics product.
But now I see a pdf:
http://jiaxuled.com/PIC/PIC/2017741432180.pdf
that mentions both GPI and Match brands.

Jiaxuled also provided the LEDs for the newer Mini Series.

They really do not look bad, but the binning seems to be very wide. I suspect same binned emitters could and would be all over the place as far as tint goes.
