What did you mod today?

Bummer! Seems like a driver issue then.

Ouch!!!

They really should start making ss bezels for the fw3aa.

Brushed bezel.

And glow behind the optic.

Thanks. That looks way better than the typical green tinted cool white.

Emitter swap on my Jetbeam Jet II Pro Ti.

That sucker seemed to have a whole tube of red Loctite on the bezel threads. Every thread was absolutely coated with the stuff. And they used so much it had actually leaked into the o-ring cavities on both sides of the bezel threads.

I froze the light for 2 hours to try to make the threadlocker more brittle. Unfortunately, this did absolutely nothing to the Loctite. I ended up putting the light in a table vise and then using a pliers as a wrench to turn it. Fortunately, the light actually had a flat area around the switch and on the opposing side for the vise to get a grip. And the indents in the bezel allowed the teeth in the pliers to get a grip like a wrench without having to dig into the bezel.

This required a LOT of force to unscrew. I have no doubt that if this was the aluminum version of the light, the top of the body tube would have torn off before the Loctite gave way.

Might need to rethink my desire to not use heat to loosen Loctite.

Two mods last night:

1. Swapped the Oslon White 1 emitters for a mix of random XPL HI in one of my FWAAs. The XPL HI were two 4000K (5A2 and 5D), and one cool white XPL HI of unknown tint and bin. Fairly pleased with it. A wall of light from a tiny package.

2. I also swapped in an Oslon Boost HX into an Ultrac S20. Quite a nice LED. A lot of punch and had no problem handling direct drive with a low current cell.

Unfortunately, this mod didn’t last long mainly due to my crappy reflowing job. The Boost HX is too small for an XM star. I made it fit with much effort, but it was barely hanging on and didn’t last. Then I spent an hour trying to reflow it again, but could not get it working without one or the other side pads bridging to the center heat sink pad. GRRRR.

Anyone know where to get copper stars properly sized for the Boost HX?

Easiest source is convoy aliexpress store.

I turned my flashlight into a lantern. It works very well with low or even moonlight mode in total darkness.

There’s 3 modes. I got the supplies from Dollar Tree.

IF25A modded with 2700k SST20s (JA3) and D-C-Fix (not in image). I wasn’t a big fan of the beam profile and somewhat greenish tint of the stock 4000k LEDs. Now it’s perfect for me.

Need an account to see this.

Handy torch site….not. Even with setting the default settings from German to English site translation, it still presents as German!!!
Anyway once signed up the link still doesn’t allow access.

There’s 20min of my life I wont ever get back
Vunderbar

I should have told you  .

Keine Ahnung, was los ist, Xandre, aber ich sehe das auch nicht.

Ich wünschte ich wüsste was los ist!!!..aber leider ist mein Deutsch so gut wie mein Swahili

Swapping L21A’s Sst40 with Sft40, sanded down the top of the emitter gasket, and modding the driver to 8A.

Sorry the album was privat,

Yep.

Now that’s a head. How many cd?

We hope over 54 MCD
