A disaffected soldier returns to his hometown to get even with the thugs who brutalized his mentally-challenged brother years ago.
Very good movie by Shane Meadows.

My daughter was just watching Ultraviolet. I was reading but kind of half watched it for a while. Wow, really bad, really really bad.

I feel sorry for people who don't have a hobby or interest to escape to.

The Sunset Limited (2011) – a university professor (Tommy Lee Jones) tries to kill himself by throwing himself in front of a train. A man he doesn’t know (Samuel Jackson), who is an ex-convict in a low-paying job, prevents the professor from killing himself, and takes him to his apartment, where he tries to convince the professor, who is an atheist, that faith in God can make life worth living. The conversation between the two men ranges from their past lives, their history of relationships with other people, and the very different environments in which they live, as well as the differences in their views about the universe, faith, and hope. The movie was based on the play by Cormac McCarthy, and was directed by Tommy Lee Jones. This is a great movie that showcases an intelligent script, great acting, and excellent directing, rather than violence, sex and volume.

next Hitchcock: Marnie.

1. Birds and Bond stars.
2. sort of a “costume drama” since they sure do change clothes often enough.
3. this revised quote sums it up: “No matter how hot she is, someone out there is sick of dealing with her (drama?)…. but there is usually another who is not.”

Same thing. CGIed birds go a-killin’, hilarity ensues.

Caught both “Runaway“ and “Westworld“ last night on MyMovies!.

Pretty much unedited (some bewb-blur, though), which is nice vs the butchered-for-primetime versions.

Awesome flicks…

Kung Fury (2015)

30 minutes of absolute silliness, but those of us who remember 1980s martial arts and police action films will enjoy the nostalgia. Plus cool music by Mitch Murder.

Quote:
Kung Fury is a 2015 English-language Swedish martial arts comedy featurette written and directed by David Sandberg. It pays homage to 1980s martial arts and police action films. The film stars Sandberg in the title role, Jorma Taccone, Leopold Nilsson, and a cameo appearance by David Hasselhoff.

The film was crowdfunded through Kickstarter starting in the beginning of 2014, with pledges reaching US$630,019, exceeding the original target goal of $200,000, but short of the feature film goal of $1 million. It was selected to screen in the Directors’ Fortnight section at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, losing to Rate Me from the United Kingdom.

I must get the entire series…

And I also gotta get S1 of “Schknørglün”, that Acclaimed Foreign Show.

Pic came out, or no? Weird things from goggle lately, looks fine to me, but…

Starring Sråbøl Pflüger and Wølff Sørensen,
this gritty Danish/German crime drama
follows two detectives who are
investigating a series of murders
in the sleepy hamlet of Ærøskøbing…

Yes, but there are no search results for “Schknørglün”. That’s why I thought it was a joke.

The World To Come (2020) – this is a gorgeous period piece set in the 1850’s, in upstate New York, about two married women who develop a friendship that blossoms into something deeper. Shot in 16mm in Romania. Excellent directing, writing, and acting, as well as stunning cinematography, pack a powerful emotional wallop. Casey Affleck was a producer, and has a large acting role in the movie as the main character’s decent, but dispirited husband.
