Which movie did you watch lastֻ

That looks like one I need on my list for when I go on vacation…
(LadyKillers 2004 )

However…it appears to be a remake of a 1955 version with Alec Guiness…I think I need to put that on my list also

(LadyKillers 1955 )

Got that email, yeh. Wouldn’t surprise me.

But back when, people were seeing those horrible crappy pix. I still can. :confounded:

Odd that it was “turned off” for everyone else.

.
Best movie ever made :smiling_imp:
Watched it several times.

Good on Paper (2021)

After years of putting her career first, a stand-up comic meets a guy who seems perfect: smart, nice, successful and possibly too good to be true.

Going on 50 years old and just as relevant as the day is was released.

Stanley Kubrick’s—-Dr. Stangelove

A very young Darth Vader, Slim Pickens, George C Scott and Peter Sellars in a movie that will make you think. And laugh. A true classic.

It is a classic - and very innovative for its time. They put a lot of Sellars’ ad libs into the film. They also delayed the release of the film from Dec. 1963 to Jan. 1964, due to the assassination of president Kennedy, and they changed one line of the film. When Slim Pickens is going through the contents of the escape kits, the soundtrack has him saying, “Shoot, a fella’ could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff.” If you look closely at Pickens saying that line, though, you can see him mouth what was in the script, which was “Shoot, a fella’ could have a pretty good weekend in Dallas with all that stuff.”

Kajillionaire (2020) - Evan Rachel Wood and Gina Rodriguez are both brilliant in this quirky, darkly humorous tale about a young woman (Wood, as “Old Dolio”) who works as a grifter and thief with her parents, played by the amazingly-versatile Richard Jenkins and an unrecognizable Debra Winger. When the trio of criminals meets another young woman (Rodriguez) and agree to involve her in their schemes, Old Dolio learns to look at her parents, her life and the world differently. You won’t always know where this movie is going, which is a part of its charm, and the ending is great. Jenkins and Winger are also amazing to watch in two roles that will go unappreciated by many, due to the repellent and bizarre nature of their characters. Seeing this movie made me interested in seeing the other movies by Miranda July, who directed and wrote the screenplay.

Hitchcock is on hiatus for now.
the weather is too good and the sunlight lasts too long.
even the hummingbirds are staying up late.

Prince of persia

LANSKY 2021

When the aging Meyer Lansky is investigated one last time by the Feds who suspect he has stashed away millions of dollars over half a century, the retired gangster spins a dizzying tale, revealing the untold truth about his life as the notorious boss of Murder Inc. and the National Crime Syndicate.

A good one!

Nobody

Watched it last night. Not too bad.

raining,
so therefore:
Hitchcock.

Topaz.
really, really good.
if you can watch it uninterrupted
and pay attention to every little thing,
then it might be one of your “good ones”.

I saw Spiral (2021).

It's a pretty good horror movie.

I didn't expect much, as I heard it wasn't that great, but I liked it.

The acting is decent.

Samuel L. Jackson has a medium-sized part, and as expected, he is excellent.

Chris Rock is the protagonist, and he's only a decent dramatic actor.

He's much better as a comedian, but the Saw movies have hardly any comedy.

I don't think Chris Rock has even one genuinely funny line, which is kinda a waste.

If you have Chris Rock as the star of your movie, at least let him be funny.

The music is good, especially at the end.

This film has a strong ending, which I appreciate.

The movie, also, is not boring.

The bad guy in the movie, which you only hear his voice until the end of the movie, is super lame.

Once you see him in person, he's pretty good, but when all you hear is his voice, he's not a very good villain.

In the Saw series, I like Saw 1, 2, 3, 6, and now Spiral.

(The other movies aren't nearly as good.)

If they make another sequel, which will be the 10th film in the series, I just hope it's as good as Spiral.

In other words, Spiral is a worthy sequel.

Angel of Mine 2019

Good performances by the two main actresses.

Sweet Carolina (2021)
Marketing executive, Josie, returns home when she becomes the unexpected guardian of her niece and nephew. While there, she reconnects with Cooper, her high school boyfriend.

finalizing Hitchcock.
Frenzy.

it is a predecessor to Silence of The Lambs.
there are multiple points of comparison. for example:

1. the audience knows who is who from the beginning.
2. the “chase” is the conflict. can the killer be caught?
3. more importantly, HOW will the killer be caught?

off point: these kind of movies allowed us to wonder if the old legends of Vampires, Werewolves, and
whatever were just stories about actual ancient serial killers with some extra “boogie-man” emphasis.

No Sudden Move

A group of criminals are brought together under mysterious circumstances and have to work together to uncover what’s really going on when their simple job goes completely sideways.

Director
Steven Soderbergh
Writer
Ed Solomon
Stars
Don Cheadle - Benicio Del Toro - David Harbour

good movie!

Gonna watch that looks good!

I watched https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8695030/ the other day, always liked Bill Murray, especially Ground Hog Day, Ghostbusters, Garfield, but wondering why!

Was he just bored?

No Sudden Move…without spoilers, our opinion:

1. we turned on the CC. could not accurately hear what they were saying sometimes. rewind did not help.
2. movie was set in 1954. the $64K Question game show started in ’55. yes, we are that movie nerdy.
3. fisheye lens. just stop. no more.

regardless, it was still entertaining and worth the rental cost.
it would not have been worth movie theatre ticket prices, though.
