Sony A6500 with Sigma 16mm f1.4 lens. One of the best low light lenses available
Flashaholic on YouTube has the same setup, but he has a gimbal. I’d like to get one, but they can cost a wee bit

Barely noticeable. You can see okay on the 3rd side by side with the leaves on the ground.
I decided to remain with the D25S as it’s not worth the loss in brightness for not much difference in colour. I’d rather 4000K if anything on a headlamp
Thanks for the comparison video PTD. I'd stick with the SST40 for the extra lumens, it really shows up in your video, and I can't tell that the higher CRI of the LH351D does that much, for me anyway.
The colors look washed out with SST40, I definitely prefer the LH315D on a side by side basis. With that said I was using stock D25S for an hour or so and it got barely warm, I think I had it on medium, the brightness was totally usable. Yesterday I used Skillhunt H03 with swapped in 219bs and after about 40 minutes it was sizzling hot, even the batteries were warm. 
For the odd jobs that are agnostic towards ugly tints, I’m picking the D25S over modded H03 from now on.
Does the LH351D get noticeably warmer than SST40?
Skilhunt’s H series only has a timed stepdown on T1, so obviously this needs taking into account if anything is swapped in.
I haven’t tested whether the LH351D gets warmer. I record a demo and then sell the lights off at a reduced price. I never keep anything I make videos for unless it’s gifted for a review. Even then they just sit there waiting to be used in another beamshot comparison.
It’s a bit unusual owning a flashlight business yet have little interest in actually owning any lights, all I see is money that can be made
In the last comparison, I only saw you ramp up to level 4, not 5, with the D25L. Unless you started at level 2. I only saw 3 increases in brightness.
On my OLED laptop screen, I can easily see the difference in the colors between the two LEDs. I have two of the D25S- my favorite headlamp, but I’m still buying one of the D25L lights.
Turn your brightness up and look closely… it jumps up 4 times. Slow the playback down and you’ll see the lowest level for a split second
Dark trees and green grass absorb much more light which clearly shows off the difference between the two in terms of brightness
When the D25S first starts it’s 1228 lumens, the D25L is 860 which is almost 400 lumens. That’s quite a big difference and it shows quite well in that last comparison with all the dark greenery
Good comparison. Difference in CRI is negligible, from the looks of it. Nice to see a side-by-side.
Maybe the CRI difference is more noticeable with the human eye actually using the light? I dunno. But these headlamps look really nice quality, especially for the money compared to the 2 Olights models I have. The Perun2 is 2500lm but it’s bulky/heavy 21700, the other little Olight Array is nice & light but only 400lm. I think I’d much prefer one of these, I’ve been happy with all my Sofirn product.
How long does the Olight Array hold 400 lumens for? The D25L is only 421 lumens on High and a Turbo of 816 for 5 minutes. May not be too attractive if you take that stepdown into account for long use

I think I’ll get the L version as my main use will be arms length detail work, where high CRI may be more beneficial.
Further out, I can switch to a handheld light designed for more throw.

Very nice review. Just to add to the data base: Beam shots on white wall of 3 headlamps - Sofirn D25S, Slonik (latest USB-C $35 model), and Sofirn D25L. I started with brightest mode on all 3 headlamps and took pics at intervals thereafter. From the very start, the Slonik has brightest hot spot among the 3, then D25S, then D25L. This particular picture is about 20 minutes after start, when all 3 lights have stepped down to a stable level.
Picture taken with Canon 24-70, WB set at 5000k, shot in raw & developed w/ Capture 1 software, which allows me to see objective brightness level at any point on the picture. Added some subjective comments based on my use of the headlamps also (daily walk on an unlit road).
I am keeping the D25L because of the high CRI and the nice Samsung led . Its warm tone adds depth and color accuracy is wonderful. But it’s not as bright as the other 2 lights. For the walk I prefer the the brightness of D25S and even better, the brightness & throw of the Slonik. The D25S has a slight green tint that is made more obvious only when you put it next to the D25L. Also D25S is very clearly brighter than D25L.
If I have to keep 1 light among these 3, it would be the D25L because it’s one of the very few headlamps (maybe the only one?) with the high CRI Samsung led. But that’s partly because I have other headlamps (Fenix and Coast) that throw far. One last point: Slonik and Sofirn have identical housing (except Slonik has USB-C, Sofirn Micro USB 
) so it seems these 2 lamps are made by same company. Hope this helps.
I just received my D25L yesterday. This is my first headlamp that I will use as a headlamp (I’ve had a Nitecore HC30 NW and Zebralight H600W Mk II for years, but haven’t used them on my head), and I am very impressed. I was worried it might feel too heavy on my head, and I was considering one of the lightweight, cheap headlamps on Amazon instead - but I’m glad I went with this light. The quality and performance for the price are very impressive - as with the other Sofirn light I bought recently, a IF22A. The D25L works perfectly, it charges the Sofirn battery supplied with the light to 3.19V, and it is not uncomfortable on my head. The beam will work very well for my purposes. The headband also works.
I had also considered a Coast headlamp, using the 20%-off coupon they give you for signing up for emails, but there seem to be issues with each model that make them less suitable for me than the Sofirn light. There are many comments in reviews about switches not working or being difficult to use, lights turning on accidentally, and magnets in tailcaps, which I need to avoid.
I appreciate the excellent review above, as well as the beamshot comparison - I looked at the Slonik headlamps and also the D25S, but I wasn’t as confident about the Slonik quality and performance as I was about the Sofirn products. Now I’m tempted to look at getting a Slonik or maybe a D25S……maybe I can rationalize that I need a backup headlamp.
