A couple of Maglute beamshots

Just got the Maglite ML100 2C light in yesterday. It is rated at 137 lumens and seems to be quite a thrower. I ordered some extra C-batteries with it for longer runtimes, but to drop some weight I also order some adaptors from batteryjunction that allow the use of AA cells...have plenty of alkalines and NiMH AA batteries to last for many years. The Mini Mag Pro puts out more lumens but the ML100 has a tighter beam and more perceived brightness because of it. The shots are at about 65 feet and aimed at a little step-ladder I was using for limb trimming. Both lights have more spill than what the photos show but as for throw the photos serve their purpose for demonstrating.

ML100

Thanks for posting. Can you put up a picture of the ML100? Nice throw on that one.

Huh, just noticed in the title that I did beamshots of a couple of "Maglutes"...well, here is a photos of the "lutes" :)

ML100 next to the Mini Pro for an idea of size.

Looking down the business end of the ML100

Thanks for the pics of your 'Lutes'! I haven't had a big Mag in a while since my very old incan was ruined by battery leakage. I'm keeping an eye out for a gunmetal version.

2 years in a row, Home Depot and Lowes had a promotion that lasted until the stock ran out. 2D LED Mags for less than $15.00. The HD promo even included 2 Duracells!

I have other "Chinese" lights and they all serve specific needs , but for an all around flashlight, Maglites are hard to beat for the following reasons.

Ease of use

Durability

Dependability (would you trust a Li-ion type flashlight to actually work if it was "forgotten" in a drawer for 5 years)

Availablity

Length of runtime (LED Mags run for 9 hours, the 3D version 70 hours)

Availability of Batteries

Overall Quality of build and Finish (look at he pics at the beginning of this post, best anodizing around)

Usability

Price (Cheaper initial cost than ANY Chinese flashlight, battery, charger combo)

Decent enough spill OR Throw for most applications. (how often does one REALLY need 1000 Lumen?)

Switch is up front, no need for 2 hands to turn in on or off

NO FLASHING MODES

Add these all up and Maglite wins by a LARGE margin!

For most people, an Alkaline Maglite is the best choice. I am not talking about an EDC light, but rather a once or twice a year flashlight. That is how most people use a flashlight.

Only people with a specific need or a flashaholic would choose anything else.

I always thought a Maglute was when you kept your torch in your.....well, never mind.

Very cool shots ! I continue to be impressed by the MMag Pro.

@BetweenRides: PM me if you're interested in a gunmetal 2D for $15, shipped. I believe I have both the lighter and darker GM finishes available.

@dchomak...close on the no flashing modes although the ML100 does have them. There is an available strobe and SOS mode. However the light is able to be "programmed" to 4 different "function sets". If you do not want the strobe or SOS you just choose a set without them and select it. The light remembers your chosen set even during a battery change. You can change the set anytime you want as well. I have mine set for momentary on high > constant on high > low.
