The Perfect Tint

What about an xhp70.2 in 3000k. Does anyone have experience with that leds

For me the sweet spot usually is 4D, 4A, 3D, 3A… below the BBL.

Of course that may vary either way (cooler or warmer) for some emitters.

I DETEST (HATE) warm, & super warm tints. Hideous Blue cool tints too.

For a “dedicated” thrower… cooler is better as long as it IS NOT Hideous Blue.
:white_check_mark:

I seek 6500k and above and specifically love a bluish green tinge sometimes with some purple. No… my favourite is tint would be from my 3k xhp70.2 convoy m21c-u.

.

Too complicated
5D2

I prefer fairly warm white, but any warm white will do.

Had to do a Google / Wikipedia search to find out what is “Illuminant E”…

Looks like it’s supposed to be approximated closely to somewhere around 5455k color temperature, based on the above link, but has no actual color temperature…

Illuminant E confirmed

YES… or at least we should be. :white_check_mark:

What does “master race” have to do with this???

Illuminant E is a from theory constructed light source while “white” is, despite how you want it to be, in fact a human perception, far from objective. If they match for you that will be coincidence.

(Have you seen illuminant E? Is there an actual existing source of it?)

There has been a few studies about perceived white point and tint preference

One about perceived white point, and two about preference are cited in This presentation which I recommend reading.

Here is another one about perceived white point.

So not even talking about preference you can’t affirm that an illuminant E is white.

Anyhow personally I like CCTs between ~4500K and 2200K with duv between–0.002 and ~–0.008

The darkness is the perfection haha.
I’m not obsessed for the tint variations, but I dislike most of the low Cri Leds that are now obsolete(marketing strategy).

It’s basically tongue in cheek refernce to PC gaming being the ‘master race’ over console gaming systems. In referring to tints, CRI, and subjective perfect whiteness, it could become, ah, a bit slippery, lol.

yes but this thread makes the typical mistake of confusing the term Tint with Color Temperature…

I think its a joke, since there is no LED I can buy, that matches Illuminant E

in my real world, the choices are not theoretical… I mostly use sw45k, with an occasional 3000k 219b… or 2700k LH351d

For wich application you use the 45k and at wich time of the day?You talk about this LED a lot

Stay safe?
Is the devil lurking above 5000K? :smiling_imp:

219b 4500k 9080 sw45k is in all my EDC

If I go into the basement, I use it to see things in boxes
If I go into the tool room, I use it to see things in tool bags
If I go travelling, I use it for my all purpose light at all times of day or night.

for the few situations where I am adapted to total darkness, I like a warmer CCT… usually 219b 3000k 9080

When Im modding flashlights, wearing a magnifying visor, I use a 5mm Yuji 5600k in a Sofirn C01 to illuminate my electronics work.

all are High CRI

.

When Im being stealthy and dont want to wake the plants up, I use green, and when I want to wake up the mitochondria in my retina I use Red:

.

I prefer use CCT above 4000k only at day time.Don’t like the yellowish contrast of the warm Leds with the daylight. On night is another story
For close works I prefer warm tints high Cri,less harsh for eyes and body healt

OK… Thanks for the info. :white_check_mark:
