Any info/leaks on new Nitecore lights? Specially on the TM and P12 series.

Is there anybody out there that may have knowledge on information about future Nitecore releases/lights they might be working on and if so, any timelines as well to go along with it? I’ve searched the web but haven’t been able to find any info anywhere, Nitecore seems to keep everything very hush hush.

If there’s anybody out there with leaks/information about say, a new P12GT they might be working on for example or a TM39GT they might be working on, it would be greatly appreciated if you shared it here

Ever since the P12GT, there hasn’t been a successor to it that has improved upon, or even matched the overall design and performance of this flashlight, at least in my opinion. It’s a discontinued light and mine is currently broken, and although you can find one online on Amazon and possibly other places I haven’t checked, it’d be nicer if Nitecore came out with a more modern version of it. I didn’t like all the iterations of it that came after. I recently got an MH10S which comes close to it in terms of size, specs and performance, but it lacks the tail-cap switch so it’s a bit slower/clumsier, and the beam isn’t as tight so it doesn’t have as much throw as the GT had (320 meters at 1000 lumens). Sure it has more output on turbo (1800 lumens), and I do like the light, but I’m not in love with it as I am with the P12GT. I’ve already contacted Nitecore about getting it checked and repaired but have yet to receive a response.

Anyway, I’ve really been eyeing out the TM39 lately. It looks freaking AMAZING aesthetically speaking, as well as ticking all the other boxes for me, and it would be my first BIG light, as currently, my biggest light is the Nitecore TM26GT (yes, I really love Nitecore’s gear, they’re my favorite flashlight manufacturer). It’s been out for quite a while though, since 2020, so I’m thinking they might either be releasing a GT version of it later this year or next year, or be working on something new altogether, I don’t know. They’ve done GT versions of lights many times in the past, and those always end up being more to my liking because they focus more on throw/sustainability at the highest mode than raw lumen ratings and massive flood/spill. I’d hate to get a TM39 only to have them release a GT version of it some months or a year later for me to drool over. So if anybody has any info, here’s the place to discuss it!

Feel free to discuss any other Nitecore related stuff in this thread as well, like sharing your collection and/or your experience with their lights and what you think about em, etc. I’ll drop in a pic of my current light collection while I’m at it (with some left out because they didn’t fit the picture well)
Note: The P12GT currently doesn’t work (and hasn’t for a few yrs) I could never get in contact with the Amazon seller as hard as I tried so I just threw it in storage and forgot about it until the warranty period ran out. Now I’m “back in the game” so to speak and I want it fixed so I sent an e-mail to Nitecore about it, as well as the EC4S which was already repaired once (and the process took around a year), and that was through an e-bay seller. The light once again quit functioning but this time I decided to contact Nitecore directly in hopes that I’ll have a different experience this time around. We’ll see, been a few days since the e-mail, hopefully they respond soon.

Nothing? :frowning:

Love my MH20s and GT, and EC4GTs, and P30s, and TM03…

Compared to what else is available on the market, my perception of nitecore lights is that they’re pretty uninteresting, with mediocre/bad UIs and questionable quality. Occasionally they come out with a unicorn but do something questionable like welding in a non-replaceable cell. They’re also pretty pricey for what they offer most of the time.

With what other brands are releasing, nitecore’s lineup of lights just isn’t worth my time checking out.

@Sunnysunsun I hear you with the questionable quality thing. Well, not quality, I think they’re high quality, they’ve just been unreliable in my experience. Disagree strongly with the UI as I LOVE the way their lights work but that’s a very subjective matter. For me, the aesthetics are unmatched and they bring extreme performance in very compact packages. My problem has been with reliability, as the P12GT quit working completely a few years ago, and now my EC4S broke for the 2nd time. This is coming from a person who is very anal on doing things right and taking care of everything I own. Most of the things I own can be passed off as new or near new unless obviously if I use them heavily and for work on a daily basis, which I did when it came to the P12GTS when I worked at a Lufthansa MRO for 3 years, but considering all the use I got out of it, I think the wear it has is pretty respectable.

I finally got a response to my e-mail to the service department after I had sent them a detailed report of the issues I was having with the P12GT and the EC4S and the response I got was literally asking me what batteries I was using at asking me to measure the voltage…. AND he asked what the problem with the EC4S was when I clearly already explained it in detail in the original email. sigh I responded with a very detailed e-mail regarding the cells and their specs, including internal resistance values and also told him that I cleaned and inspected the contacts on the lights, etc. Basically gave him way more info than he asked for just so he knows I’m not the average Joe and doesn’t make me waste any time with stupid questions or try and dupe me out of getting warranty service. So far, I’m not impressed with the customer service but I’m really hopeful that’ll change after this e-mail. The first time I got a repair done on the EC4S it literally took about a year for the light to get back to me, with ZERO communication during the whole process. That was done through the seller on e-bay, though, not directly with Nitecore as I’m doing now but so far, I’m not impressed nor getting a good feeling lol.

The TM26GT has been the only Nitecore light that hasn’t failed me yet knock on wood, other than the ring light that surrounds the button no longer working. It was nice to look at it glow at night and it was nice for locating it in complete darkness. I really really wish they were reliable, cuz everything else about them completely enamors me. From the design, to the performance, to the UI and their beautiful OLED screens on the TM series, specially that newest version on the TM39.

Ayyye, a fellow Nitecore owner! I see you are a man of taste haha. Ever had any issues with any of them or am I just unlucky?

EDCed the same MH20 for years, keep an EC4GT nearby, and the rest I just trot out when I need something more specific (thrower, monster, etc.). No issues at all so far.

Did have a Mystery Issue with a Cave Man, but a bud worked out a swap for a new(?) one. No issues so far, but it’s rarely used.

Horrible parasitic drain on those, though. Was warned to not leave cells in it for long. Alkies will leak, NiMH will get reverse-charged, etc.

IMHO, Nitecore used to be much better. I have a bunch from 5+ years ago. Very nice. The new E4K is a complete disaster. Again, in my opinion, between the “name brands” namely Fenix, Olight, and Nitecore, Fenix wins every time.

Hadn’t even seen that model. Just looked it up and it looks pretty ugly, plus the specs are not in line with something I’d buy. Over 4k lumens in such a small body is obviously gonna be for a very short burst, with the stepdowns getting sharper and sharper the more you use it within a relatively close time period. Those lights don’t interest me in the least, regardless of the brand. I look for sustainable outputs when purchasing any light. The highest lumen light I own is the Nitecore TM26GT and its max output is 3,500 lumens IIrc, and I’ve never had to use it long enough to notice any harsh step down at all.

In fact, I’ve used the turbo mode for a pretty extended period without noticing much of a drop in output, if any while doing some sightseeing up very high in a mountain peak by the edge of the island where you’re standing on rocks that seem to be volcanic in nature. I wish I could show you pictures so you know what I mean, but basically they’re just rocks with tens of THOUSANDS of holes in em and very sharp edges. In some areas they form very sharp and jagged stalagmites. Anyway I was up relatively high in a mountain and looking down at the waves crashing against these rock formations, and using the light in turbo to clearly see the surfaces at VERY long distances (the throw is over 700 meters and it’s not a small area like my Thrunite Catapult V6, you literally flood a very large area with tons of light). If you use turbo too close, you’ll just wash everything out of view and temporarily blind yourself, but it has a more tame output right before the 3,500 lumens at 1,700 lumens, which is even more sustainable without seeing any sharp stepdowns. The light does get pretty toasty at those high outputs, though. Definitely has excellent heat dissipation. It’s my favorite light out of my collection. It even fits in your jeans pocket, although it’s definitely bulky and uncomfortable there, but it fits if you need to. I’d obviously recommend carrying it in a fanny pack or perhaps a jacket pocket, but we can’t use jackets in my island cuz it’s too damn hot all year :weary:
