Coronavirus **personal experiences** thread

It wasn’t a comparison, but we can put this to rest.

:+1:

It heartens me that Mraz (link post #7647 ) and all of his family got Covid. And that someone in the hospital advised to be not vaccinated (“not helping” and “side effects”).
That is tragic.

And then we have the class clowns fluttering their feathers in mockery.

And to top it off, confrontational people pushing their POV.

I come here to get some insights on people’s personal experiences and how/if lockdowns disrupted their lives.

Getting to compartimize those that are logical and open to dialogue versus the ill tempered and biased.
So a prejudice sets in whenever these individuals post on flashlights or whatever liberal subject that is the talk of the ‘town’.

I’ll show my way out.

Not to toss fuel on any fires, but bugger if I didn’t find exactly that today. (I knew it sounded familiar, so looked back to find this comment, and yep, there it is, the same publication.)

COVID Shot Increases Your Susceptibility to COVID Death

As noted by Hirschhorn,22 several doctors are now reporting that the majority of COVID-19 cases they see are fully vaccinated individuals. Dr. Harvey Risch of Yale, for example, claims the fully vaccinated account for 60% of his COVID caseload.23 This clinical observation stands in stark contrast to what you’ll read in the mainstream news. Lately, a slew of articles has been published declaring that most COVID deaths are now occurring in unvaccinated people.

U.K. data also show vaccinated people are at significantly increased risk of dying from the Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 than unvaccinated ones, which suggests antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE) might be at play.

A June 11, 2021, report24 by Public Health England shows that as a hospital patient, you are nearly six times more likely to die of the COVID Delta variant if you are fully vaccinated, than if you got no COVID shots at all. The information shows up in Table 6 on page 15, which lists emergency care and deaths by vaccination status and confirmed Delta cases from February 1, 2021, to June 7, 2021.

And that’s the same Public Health England .pdf cited above.

Wow…

"six times" - From just one angle, pre-existing conditions and age aren't even mentioned here.

Looking at the UK data more closely:

< 50 years:
82458 delta cases in total
52846 unvaccinated - 6 deaths
3689 vaccinated 2 doses - 0 deaths

> 50 years:
9571 delta cases in total
976 unvaccinated - 38 deaths
3546 vaccinated 2 doses- 50 deaths

“. ^ Total deaths in any setting (regardless of hospitalisation status) within 28 days of positive specimen date. ”

It looks like being unvaccinated is clearly more risky. There are few fully vaccinated people under 50 in the UK because they had supply issues. Also with that description if you are run over by a bus within 28 days of testing positive you may count within the statistics, expect the final numbers to be a bit different once they refine the data.

I read the whole news article (newconcerns.com is the source, btw) you quoted above.
I won’t debate things as I don’t have enough knowledge or sources for facts or arguments, and I can tell that some things are indeed scary if they are true (I’m not saying they are not, I just don’t have means to go further onto them and analyze that dat).

But much of it falls in discredit when it says that it COVID-19 has a lethality rate on pair with seasonal flu, which is not true as several comparative studies in hospitalized patients have shown. Nay sayers will still beat that dead horse until it’s rotten… :person_facepalming:

Apart from this, as this is about personal experiences, I’m still working from home most of the time, although I go to my workplace when needed (I need to go there to make videos with my deaf colleagues).
Currently, my city is at risk of having more restrictions due to newer infections, mostly due to the Delta variant.

Despite I put things in perspective, specially after reading some less common info as presented on the article quoted by LB, this week I will take my vaccine. I’m not sure which will be (eventually the J&J one), but I will tell about that when I get it.

Be safe folks. Body and mind!

but you just did

you are amplifying an offtopic post containing bad data, that suggests a dangerous conclusion that promotes an anti vaccination agenda

and people will argue about that too

my experience is people pretend SB is not around, and whatever he said only matters if he comes back and reminds you to stay on topic

posting statistics is troll bait, and replying to them is promotimg the disinformation objectives, which is to gaslight people into doubting the science

My “personal experience” was that people were beating up on the guy, when I just stumbled upon the same info as he did, albeit from another source and a coupla days late. And that source was from Public Health England, not VaccinesWillKillYou.com or anything.

Just trying to undo a bit of “cyberbullying” that was going on… Like, cut the guy a break.

Sarcasmmakesmelaugh.lol

All right, break it up before I have to come over there.

Sheesh Penney we’re just having fun!

LOL
Touche Pas

You did not throw any fuel on the fire LB. Rest easy……

YOU simply shared & verified, in a very clear manner I might add: info the other guy had already mentioned.

Information that anyone “considering” taking the CV Vaccine would be well to know & consider as part of their decision making process as to take or not take the vaccine. :white_check_mark:

you are both throwing fuel on the fire
and denying that youre doing it

not getting the vaccine is irresponsible, and dangerous,
to self and others

That’s all I really care to do. If someone wants to snort, smoke, inject, eat, drink, whatever, it’s none of my business, nor anyone else’s. As long as people can make an informed choice as to whether something’s good or bad, that’s what’s important.

I just want to bring light to the world…

In the risk group, the UK has nearly 100% people vaccinated. What you see in hospitals are mostly the (roughly) 10% of them where the vaccine unfortunately didn’t work. You probably won’t see a 25yo unvaccinated there, where the lethality is a fraction of a 1/1000.

So, it makes me wonder why only 6 times of severe cases are vaccinated in contrast to unvaccinated (according to something I read in a post above). Should be more, but my numbers are rough estimates.

Yes, but sometimes the truth is hard to see (statistics is not easy), so people like us need people able to interprete the data. I find it difficult to trust anyone here.

Agreed. One size Does Not necessarily fit all with this vaccine, or any vaccine really. There are “risks” associated with any of them, as there are risks with any medication. This is where risk/benefit ratio assessment comes in.

ANY person, if they so desire; should be absolutely free to make an informed choice as to whether or not to personally take the CV Vaccine. This choice should be absolutely free of harrassment, judgement, or peer pressure.

FACTS….

  • These CV Vaccines are NOT approved for use by the FDA
  • These CV Vaccines ARE granted Emergency Status use by the FDA
  • SO, at this point; the use of CV Vaccines are one big human trial.
  • It is required by LAW that people be completely informed of the benefits as well as the dangers of taking these trial vaccines in order for them to accurately access for themselves the risk/benefit ratio of them taking the vaccine.
  • It is 100% against the LAW to offer prizes, inducements, pay (money), FREE STUFF, or anything in order to sway a person to receive the CV Trial vaccine.

The above FACTS are but a few of the things a person should consider.

I AM NOT saying don’t take the vaccine.

I AM SAYING to access the risk/benefit ratio as it applies to YOU & then YOU decide for YOURSELF to take or not take the CV Vaccine.

Reading statistical data well and getting the correct story out of it is something only a few can do well, it is not easy. The majority needs someone who does that for them.

Some people who do that have an agenda and present their own wrong story.

Some of the majority who can not read data wrongly think that they can and make up wrong stories.

Some of the majority who can not read data themselves listen to the people who made the wrong stories.

It is a matter of avoiding the agendas and trusting people who really know statistics.

But about own experiences: last friday I had my first Moderna shot

I’m late to the party for my age group in my country because initially I declined the invitation for the jab because this spring I took part in a phase3 trial for a different vaccin (from Curevac) and taking the “official” jab would end my contribution to the trial, and I like to be helpful. But two weeks ago, the preliminary results of the Curevac trial showed a rather low effectivity for contracting Covid (less than 50% protection from that), so we were advised to take the regular jab on top of it. The protection that Curevac gave to hospitalisation and death was much higher by the way (over 90%), so I did not take life/death risks it appears

I realise that we are in a luxury position in the EU, and wished that everyone in the world had access to good vaccines right now (and not next year or even later, like some parts of the world :frowning: )
