You have done your homework and welcome back. The SP 36 is a good all round choice. I have that same model and use it often. Load it up with some Sanyo GAs and you are good to go.
PREP? (Pension Revenue Enhancement Program)………. :+1:
You will have no regrets with the Sofirn SP36 BLF Anduril 5000K for what your plans are. They are cheap enough so you can always get another. I have the 2700k model on the way because I have nothing with that warm a tint
Now, don’t forget a headlight…
Now, don’t forget a headlight…
Exactly…. 2✅
And HERE is one that will not break the bank. $16.19 on sale!!!
And it is a good one too.
I use mine multiple times a day for one reason or another.
Put a good lanyard on it and you could swing it like a weapon. It’s got enough heft.
Welcome back to the thread, it has been entertaining so thanks for starting it.
Get the diffuser for the SP36, then you can use it as a lantern as well. I bought the diffuser, but has not arrived yet, but for the Pro (got it in 5000K though). Then I went out and bought the BLF-LT1 to use as a travel lantern. You will enjoy the SP36 I’m sure, the diffuser will just make it multipurpose.
I’m sure I’ll use the LT1 more, but nice to have the option of a backup. Lantern also has a 2700K tint. New version can also be used as a powerbank.

I ordered the kit with the Sofirn batteries. Hope their batteries will last me for a while.
I’ll remember the Sanyo GA when it’s time to restock. Thanks for the tip on good batteries. :+1:
Sofirn must be loving this thread! $$$
Good choice. I also have SP36 BLF with same leds. You are going to like them, sure of that.
Also I got diffuser: https://sofirnlight.com/diffuser-for-sp36-sp36-blf-anduril-sp36-pro-p0174.htmlIt works. Hard plastic and considering SP36 can tailstand so easily, it works as long as you have solid surface to put it on. Only thing that LT1 got hanging loop… Well that ain’t problem either if you got some paracord and make lanyard out of it:
If you want it to hang even more upright, well just add cord on the other side too. Good camping lantern and nice beam profile of mixed flood/throw too.
I will absolutely get that diffuser!
I have only seen the lanyard solution where the paracord wraps around the light about a dozen time, and I don’t think I can do as good a job. I really like how you do the lanyard. The beauty in simplicity! And very flexible too. I’m going to copy that Thank you!

I haven’t received my light yet, and I already think about something with a different tint than my 5000K
Enjoy your 2700K model! I’m thrilled for you :+1:
Now, don’t forget a headlight…
Good reminder, thank you :+1: . I’ll certainly need the headlight. It’ll come in handy when I need both hands free.

To be honest with you, I’m so tempted. $16.19 is at a very good price point, great discount. Not too much pressure on the wallet :). Thanks for the sale alert.
Time for me to read up on this light.

Better yet, I’ll put it in a pillow case, and have a go at it! (Bad Boys reference, the one with Sean Penn )

For the record, this was going for $12 and Amazon had it under another name a few weeks ago for $6. I think there are many versions of the same thing sold under a different name.

I’ll definitely get the diffuser, and very soon. That will buy me some time before I pull the trigger on the BLF-LT1.
Thanks for the heads-up about the new version. I will wait for the powerbank capability. Hope they will be out soon.

WOW!!! $6? So glad for those who got in on the deal.
Thank you! I’ll look for it and set a price watch alert with camelcamelcamel.

I think if you check the $12 price on Amazon was for the D25S model… I got five (5) of them.
The $16.19 price is what is on sale now. It is the D25L model with the Samsung LED’s.
As far as the $6 model under “another name”…. why waste $6 on what is most likely gonna be a piece of junk with unknown crap LED’s?!?
This is the one for $6, for working on the car and getting grease and oil on it, its perfect.

Agreed, if one routinely gets oil & grease on their head when working on a car, the $6 version might indeed be their best choice.
