S2+ triple build

.

Edit: Saw you already found a spacer

Maybe not ideal but I actually bought 1x 16mm and 3x20mm copper mcpcb and proceed to delaminate the top with heat, sand and solder these sandwiches into a tall spacer. Then drill a hole in center.
Quite some tasks but hey it is still cheaper than buying a spacer or getting a Jaxman E2L host in the past.

Quad is fine. I’ve been thinking about it too. But I am not sure how big is Kaidomain’s Quad TIR diameter. I only know the triples will fit the S2+ but not sure if it’s too small for S21A or too big for S2+
There’s also intl-outdoor if you need any parts like carclo. They used to have triple mcpcb too but not much now.

Glow gaskets. Maybe follow” CRX guide”:DIY Glow Gaskets for Triples and Other Glow Stuff on how to do it but with glow tape? Or scour around aliexpress resellers for turboglow?

And as for driver I still run convoy’s SST40 driver. This one
Probably my favorite since I don’t really change mode often. Just program my favorite brightness into 3 slots and I got 3 useful preset and no memory. Although it can hit 8 amps, it will probably go at most 6 amps in my case. 5 amps nominal.

The driver you linked is a 20mm. S2+ only fits 17mm

Triple is the most you can get in an S2+. For quad you would need to go bigger, like an M2. Here’s my quad 219B M2 with a custom kiriba-ru spacer:

3 amps per 219B is the max I go as long as it’s on a copper DTP board: Nichia 219B 4500k D220 9080 CRI Emitter output test by Texas_Ace; Amazing tint and CRI! Output is what you would expect.

MoreLumens…. If he does not see & post in this thread, contact chops748 & ask him.
He built & gave me a triple S2+ last year. I can’t remember offhand the components he used, but I love it!!
The tint is great & it handles the heat very well. :white_check_mark:

You want to half that on such a small host

I’ll echo what power11 said 5A nominal. I use SST40 ,12groups driver

You can drive them harder, but it will get extremely hot!
Also its far more efficiënt to drive them not that hard.
If you want a pocket rocket, don’t use 219B’s, especially not behind a TIR since a TIR will blend the colors.

I am looking to build some s2’s for fun and wondered what you decided on? This will be my first time modding and I was thinking of a S2 triple and an M1 quad.

Re: “Getting custom made copper spacer for S2+ from Haukkeli.”
I searched, and can’t find them. Am looking for 10 spacers, do you know if they could do that many?

mountain electronics has spacers

You have a spacer right? I have one but aluminum.

Well, Haukkeli is me. I have made few of them and I sent one for MoreLumens. It was easy, we live in the same country. So no, I’m not a big numbers manufacturer, just a dude with access to a lathe. Sorry.

I haven’t bothered to apply thermal pads in the driver cavity on any of my triples and they work fine. I don’t think it’s necessary.
