Zebralight SC64c LE with LH351D NOT high CRI

I bought mine from Nkon in May of 2020, it was cheaper that way but took forever. I’ll compare it to my YLP. Now I’m curious lol.matte finish, I prefer my shiny 64w hi lol.

Is there any easy way for someone to verify that their SC64c LE is High CRI?

JetBeam RRT-01 2020 is advertised as High CRI on Neals site:
“the Nichia 219C is 90+ for vivid color accuracy.”

Without a spectrometer it’s entirely subjective, but there’s a pretty big difference between CRI 90 and CRI 70. Point it at some vibrant natural and artificial colours, particularly reds, and CRI 70 tends to make everything look very lifeless and muted. Plus the CRI 70 version has a much nicer neutral tint

That may be a mistake by Neal, rather than Jetbeam.

I notice on the official jetbeam RRT-01 Raptor website, there is no mention of the 219C being high-CRI.

Or you can just put it side-by-side with another light of similar color temp that you know to be 90 CRI. When you put them side-by-side the difference between 70 CRI and 90 CRI is quite noticeable.

You can just look at the emitter when it’s turned off. High CRI phosphors have a much deeper orange tone compared to its low CRI counterpart when you look at it.

Based on my experience, 4000k 90 CRI emitter phosphors will look clearly orange while the 70 CRI ones will just look plain yellow.

Interesting.
My Niwalker ET2 v2 has a 3000k emitter in the left reflector (a 6000k TIR cluster in the right socket). It’s rather orange looking. My Zebralight SC64c LE is more yellow and to my eyes, somewhere between the two colors in your photos.

It could depends on the color rendering of your ambient light used for viewing the emitter phosphors. I used 90 CRI lights in nearly all the fixtures in my room so the differences could be more apparent. You could try comparing the emitter appearances using the sunlight.

I test CRI on the palm of my hand

Agreed, Jetbeam haven’t stated that the 2020 model is 90+ CRI. He said the Jetbeam boss said it was 90+ CRI. I reached out to Jetbeam and they said it was 70 CRI. I told Neal and he offered a refund (the RRT-01 hadn’t been sent yet).

The product page might have been correct on Neals site in 2019 but it was re-used for the 2020 model.

Very helpful, thank you.

My LE from around April 2020 looks more like the slightly orange LED on the right.

Tint is slightly green on lower modes, and nice and warm on higher modes.

Hand looks white/pink under LE 4000K and 219B sw45k.

High CRI

The Jetbeam site used to say it was high cri. I also communicated directly with them at the preorder stage and they said it was high cri. After I got it and it was not high cri, they initially did not believe me, then said they would test and find out, then confirmed that the wrong emitters had been installed and they were not high cri, then stopped answering my emails.

Probably not going to order a Jetbeam again, definitely won’t preorder. But at least I was able to get someone to swap a 219b sw45k into the light, so now it is even better than was initially promised, if more expensive.

I swapped an actual high-CRI 219C into my 2020 Jetbeam RRT-01.

However, currently mine is non-functional. I removed the driver from it and put it in my old Niteye EYE10, whose driver I actually destroyed trying to replace the driver wires some time ago.

I guess I should check with Jetbeam to see if they are still selling replacement drivers. They were when I asked them, but that was a year ago.

iirc, last I checked they had the 2019 RRT-01 driver for $10 and the 2020 driver for $15, plus I think $8 to ship…

the 2020 driver has thermal step down… they are all the same size and fit both Niteye Eye10 and RRT-01

supposedly both the 2019 and 2020 drivers have higher output than original 2012 Niteye/Jetbeam drivers…

It’s one thing to make a mistake and own up to it… it’s another to be caught deceiving people and then find that the “answer” is a passive fix by simply omitting the information on their site and then not responding to inquiries about it. Unreal. An early Jetbeam RRT-01 is probably my last light from that brand.

Mine at different angles. My YLP I think looks better but it has lenses and don’t have the time to remove them. Imgur: The magic of the Internet

Your name lends itself perfectly…have you heard about Fireflies?

I have the copper E07 and smashed the SHIT out of it on the floor multiple times and it’s a tank, works like a champ still. I don’t know the quality of ZL, but some say build-wise it’s similar to Olight. The copper E07 I mentioned is the previous generations of Fireflies. The newest generation of Fireflies is their best quality yet. It feels very much like an Olight in quality and in finish, except they have top TOP emitter options as well. They also have excellent new efficient drivers that dole out a good amount of steady light for a while.

Fireflies had many QC issues when they started up, but based on their recent lights, thats a thing of the past and they have vaulted forward as some of the best lights in recent memory. Don’t expect many to agree here quite yet tho. Many in the community still have that early stigma attached to Fireflies and rightfully so. They likely spent money and felt they got burned at some point. But that snot what you hear now from people actually buying Fireflies. Now you hear many people surprised to report that they are unexpectedly pretty awesome. I have 7 and am waiting for my 8th Fireflies light to arrive, and I can tell you without a doubt that Fireflies are the lights that overall bring me the most joy in performance and aesthetics.

One more quick thing to note. Fireflies SAYS their lights have a 2 or 3 year warranty. I don’t know how true that is, but I do know that everyone who has bought the new generation lights and had a faulty one arrive (happens to all companies) or even one that took water damage…Fireflies has replaced every single one I’ve heard complained about. Many don’t report Fireflies correcting the issue with the same veracity that they complained about it, but nonetheless, I have seen every incident that I’ve heard of all confirmed to have ultimately been corrected by Fireflies. They don’t have the best communication, but the have been addressing the issues. Thats not something you can say about most companies. I’ve heard about all the big companies like Astrolux, Mateminco, Lumintop and others give many poor responses when things fail or outright give customers the run-around.

Sofirn, Convoy and Hank are some others that I would vouch for.

Anyway, E07x Pro might be a good one to try out. Personally, I feel the E12 is a stunning light with a premium feel that flat-out performs. Also, I hear nothing but great things about the Nov-Mu (mule)That the one on it’s way to me right now. I believe, “The best mule on the market” is something I’ve heard from multiple people. Hopefully you take leap so you can inject some new blood you want to your collection. Good luck

EDIT: The Fireflies PL47g2 was supposed to get the new drivers and a proper upgrade this year, but shortages have made that impossible. So Jack decided to do a minor refresh without the new drivers for now. It’s listed as the PL47g2 2021 Edition. So if you want maximum efficiency, Nov-Mu, E07x Pro, T9R and E12R all have the new drivers. But don’t get me wrong, the PL47 is still one of my favorite lights, it’s a 21700 battery flashlight with an 18350 sized body.
