Very odd new light at DX (GatLight copy)

Very. Also the price is quite high to just have it in collection.

Looks like a bad copy of the Gatlight (I like the name :D)

http://lumencraft.net/Collection.htm

Yeah, it looks like Schwarzenegger's Gatling gun from Terminator 2. I guess that's what they were "shooting for". :)

Im trying to work out the UI... anyone have a better take on the description on DX?

Firstly, does it have a normal clicky? Looks like one.

Secondly, modes, seems like the torch has 4 "modes" which are switched by power cycling the torch 3 times, where a power cycle involves waiting 2 seconds for the flash?

Maybe im not understanding this right..

Anyone have any idea how this works?

Other than that, it does seem to be built pretty well.

Would be better without the festive lighting behind the reflector. Cheap as Gatlights go, but not cheap enough for me. This one I'll be avoiding. Always fancied a Gatlight, but not at Lumencraft's prices ($500 for the titanium version).

Gaudy...extra colored lights....horrendous UI...and a bit expensive. So much for the pro's...I can't think of any con's atm Is it wrong that I kind of want this light? Different strokes for different folks, and I'm nothing if not different.

Oh man, They just now how to ruin an otherwise nicely designed (copied) light with those colored leds.

Yeah, I was like "Oh, nice clone!" before I saw those colored LEDs. After seeing them I was like "Nah, not my thing. I'll let it pass.". They sure know how to ruin an otherwise unique and kinda nice light with additional "features".

Awesome! Do think blink too? Can we get a good disco going with them? That'd be even better!

Only for masochists

But really who doesn't like a 500 $ light .. i like ferrari's too .. this is actually an interesting copy but .. like all things someone needs to add the strobe flashing pinball machine and 13 different soundeffects from sirens to "dukes of hazard " rebel car horn.

Can't see em selling many of those..

Although it might go down well with the chrome plated, spinning hubcap brigade..

Very odd indeed. Normally, I like gadgets. Make them nifty and I am often more than willing to throw caution to the wind. Like that "Magic Sky Control" sun roof on the 2012 Mercedes SL and SLK. I know I don't need that. I know it's going to be prohibitively expensive and it's probably going to break. Yet I don't care. I want one. Bad.

This light on the other hand just makes me go "WTF were they even thinking?". I can at least see the utility in having scissors with a laser - well, in theory. But there's no point in adding color LEDs to an otherwise interesting-looking light. This could actually be a solid light for all I know but the color LEDs just make it look like a toy.

It looks like I stand alone in understanding the pure genius of this torch. To get the rest of you up to speed, let me throw down this scenario:

Say you're at a Sweet Rave Party, just kicking it with all the other flashaholics, or as you like to call em, your "Phomies" when all of a sudden the lights go out and everything comes to a sobering halt... While the rest of the gang scurries around pulling out their HDS's, Malkoff's, and SPY007's you silently chuckle to yourself at their futile attempt to merely scare away the darkons. When all seems lost, it's you...yes you and your XG-V3 CREE, with all it's multi-colored psychedelic leds flashing away that'll keep the party main lining Power-Thirst and going "Untiss-untiss-untiss... " until the wee hours of the morning! It's a light, a faux-gatling gun, and a pocket party all rolled into one.

Ok...maybe not. But I can honestly say it wouldn't be the LAST light I'd ever consider buying...

Sweet Rave Party, just kicking it with all the other flashaholics

Most flashaholics don't party that much; We are to busy searching for dark alleys to show of our photon canons

Hahaha. :D

If Star Trek reruns are any indication, there has to be a parallel universe where that perfectly describes my average Saturday night. ;)

And that looks like something from the first Alien movie and a flashlight went on a date, ended up walking into a all-you-can-drink tequila place and nine months later, the world was blessed with this... testament to human daring. ;)
