New Fireflies T1R Mini Thrower-- Release date 25th Jan

Copy paste from another thread for visibility:

I gave Jacky another call today so I’ll write some of the info I received here. Please note that my mandarin is rather rudimentary at best so I may have gotten some of the translation wrong/misunderstood what he said.

1. The T1R’s release looks like it’ll be delayed until July. This is because they’re having trouble getting the necessary chips for the driver from the US due to the chip shortage.

2. Jacky said the short tube will be available on their website tomorrow ($15) and it’ll come with a clip.

3. Their updated headlamp will be released in May. Jacky mentioned they’ll have an option similar to the Nov-MU with slightly fewer LEDs. My understanding is that it’ll use the new buck driver and there will be a mule option (E21As) available.

4. I mentioned to him that people weren’t so happy about him not answering emails and he said he was sorry and it is because he is very busy away from home for work. He’ll try to answer all emails but replies will be a bit slow.

Thanks for clarifying, good lights are worth the wait. :+1:

I have gotten responses on all 4 of my recent orders from last month, and 2 were for the new e07x. The email tag said it was a guy named Oliver. Considering this is my first time ordering from FireFlies it felt good knowing I had at least an order confirmation.

Thought I'd check in on this, my interest has increase a lot since I have received my E07x's and I like them so muc. I would definitely love to buy a couple T1r if they are being made? July is approaching after all..

July.

Almost gone

My understanding is they’ve already finished everything except the MCUs, which have been delayed. The hosts are already machined, for example. So this will happen.

Can confirm the same, Jack said the new drivers are 3-6 months away still. It has delayed not just the T1R but also at least the PL47g3 as well (that we know of).

This shortage is not just for flashlights. Chipsets everywhere are hard to come by. It’s also why dealers don’t have cars to sell. Cars can be built, but they don’t have the electronics needed. This scarcity has driven car prices up too. This shortage is pretty much across the board.

Ready to buy one of these the moment they are available. It’s been a long wait…

I was thinking the exact same thing today. I want it pretty badly now.

No kidding. I’ve been wanting this light since before it was announced, a compact TIR thrower with RGB aux LED’s, anduril, a side switch, and a 21700 cell. After owning an E07x and seeing how great their driver and magnet are I’m even more excited.

im on board with you two.. I really can't wait for this light to come out. It will reall6 be a great addition to the collection. I'm passing on the sofirn if22a bc of this light mostly, and Hanks new one too.

I wonder what happened to the one from the OL compo last year, someone chose it - have they had it yet?

what does this mean??

I had been considering that one, the IF22A… and was trying to weigh that versus the Thrunite Catapult mini. You expect that this FF T1R Mini would surpass their capabilities?

I have so many lights, especially throwers, a new light has to be something extra special. I have an E12 and it is a favorite. An sbt 90 version would be very cool - and an 18650 tube please and I’m in.

T1R probably won’t surpass IF22A in performance because IF22A uses a brighter emitter and has a larger optic. The appeal of T1R for me is that it’s narrower than most compact TIR throwers like Catapult Mini or IF22A, it’s using an excellent buck driver with Anduril 2, and it has a magnetic tailcup and aux LED’s behind the optic just like the E07x I love so much.

Catapult Mini is excellent, but it’s very short and doesn’t include any way to carry it like a pocket clip. IF22A does solve those complaints though. If you want my full thoughts on Catapult Mini you can check out my review on 1Lumen .

T1R is probably the nicest designed compact TIR throwers. The X1L would be stiff competition if it didn’t have a terrible UI and driver. I’m biased towards a tail switch though.

If using the NM1 and what looks kinda like a Gaggione optic, the shorty version is actually very appealing, much more so than an E10 or Catapult mini. Seems like the right balance.

SFT40 and 21700 also seems right. :innocent:

Couldn't agree more!

And Like JaredM says - the appeal is the size and the UI. I have been torn for awhile wanting to try the X1L because of its pocket-ability (i know from owning and liking the X9L) / pocket clip, TIR optic, CULNM1 (i've never owned this LED) and 21700 capability - but the UI has stopped me every time i almost pulled the trigger.

Having all of the nice features with the bonus of Anduril is exciting. Plus, the T1r looks to be smaller than the X1L, so even better. I have a feeling this T1r will be giving my KR1's a run for their money, as that is still my all time favorite pocket thrower.

Thanks, Angus. Makes sense. The throw/size ratio with the T1R looks impressive. Plus the other features sweeten the deal. And I’m really getting on board with a “homogeneous UI” approach now, preferring to stick with Anduril on e-switch lights.
