TrustFire T90R Super Bright 4800LM Flashlight

Is the L7 a common favorite? How does it perform compared to other throwers ?

I will answer your question by making you a personal ranking of the performance of all the torches of compact size or with the head between about 45 and 70 mm that I have. The first and undisputed winner is the Noctigon K1, it follows the Convoy L7 at a short distance, the Astrolux FT03S is very close, a little further back we have Convoy 4x18A SBT90.2 which precedes Acebeam K30-GT on a par with JKK90, plus back on equal merit Manker MK37 and Wurkkos TS30S, still behind Manker U22 III finally Manker MC13 all with SBT90.2. The T90R is yet to arrive, as soon as I try it I'm curious to know where it will fit in the ranking ...

I appreciate the feedback, I’ll definitely look into the K1, I’ll be carrying Convoy and Manker brands very soon, keep an eye out.

This light reminds me of the relatively new Imalent UT-90 that I bought which is their first hunting style light in 2X 21700 SNT90.2 format. Came with remote pressure switch, green & red lenses and was roughly the same price and lumen specs. OK light, terrible switch and UI though.

Hi Federico,Thanks for you reply

For T30R SOS mode,
we would like to say that the mode is hidden, and it’s not activated and start when you normal use.
The purpose is to make it easier to find and target targets when you being warning environments. such as search and rescue.
Our flashlight is professional tactical products,it’s must have this mode also is the latest program program.
please let us know if you have any advice, thank you so much.

This time Convoy must abdicate! Trustfire T90R has superior performance to the Convoy L7 which is its direct competitor as a 2x21700 battery configuration and as a led or Luminus SBT90.2. And the most remarkable thing is that the difference is not small as one would have thought, probably the narrower hotspot of the T90R may be a bit deceiving but the advantage in throw is above the specifications. This is definitely the compact flashlight, excluding the 3 or 4 battery configurations, more powerful and with more throw, even better than the Noctigon K1 SBT90.2 which is the reference in the category. At this point the T90R LED becomes the queen of the category and compared to the Thrunite TN42 V2 which has very different performances does not look bad at all. Good guys from Trustfire I'm curious to compare the T90R with the new Amutorch X65T release and we'll see what happens ....

Thanks Fedtro for your very useful and exciting information.

Now I am very interested in this wonderful Trustfire T90R. If it is much better than Convoy L7, then it might worth paying double the price of the L7 to get this T90R.

Will wait and see what the other users of T90R will be saying.

I bought it on Alibaba and I didn't spend twice as much as L7 but I spent in total including tax, customs, duty $ 108.

Thanks Fedtro for the tip.

Just checked Alibaba’s web page for Trustfire T90R. I note that your BLF posting on 4 August “This time Convoy must abdicate!” is shown in the first review there.

Indeed, the price is amazing, especially when compared with US$199.99 on Ali Express, and US$169.99 on Trustfire’s e-Bay.

You mentioned using your own 21700 Moricel P42A cells. I* assume you can replace the “built-in” battery pack with your two 21700 cells.* Did you detect any difference?

I don’t like flashlights with a “built-in” battery pack, because when the battery pack turns bad, the flashlight is useless.

I tried the flashlight both with the original pack which are medium-high quality batteries but not the top, unfortunately the SBT90.2 led needs a lot of energy so I replaced the original pack with Molicel P42A and the performance increased, then I tried the Samsung 40Ts and maybe when they are turned on for the first few seconds, let's say 20 or 30 they have something more than Molicels but still almost unnoticeable, but then as you unload the Molicels they always have a better behavior for this use, on torches with the 21700 format, the P42As are also cheaper than the 40Ts and there are far fewer fakes around. To make you understand what difference the battery makes when you are dealing with the SBT90.2 I tell you that with the original battery pack the T90R had the performance of the Convoy L7 and lower than the Noctigon K1, when I switched to Molicel the T90R exceeded L7 and also if very little, almost an equal merit, even the K1. Remember, however, to always carry 2 spare because the hunger for energy is still great.

So which do you like best the T90R or the K1?

The choice is very difficult the performances are too similar, if I had to choose the compactness and the maneuverability I would choose K1, if I had to choose the autonomy I would say T90R, in the end if I really have to choose, I would choose K1 only because it has a better user interface in fact it uses Anduril UI that allows you to customize the flashlight to your tastes.

Had a Trustfire T70 under consideration and recently and found the T90R, Fedtro thanks for all the great info you posted here!
I was trying to find out if it has SBT90.1 or STB90.2 because the descriptions don’t say.

I’m assuming the $108 you paid isn’t converted to US dollars? The lowest price I’m seeing is $169 USD.

Edit: I’m looking on Aliexpress, but maybe you bought at Alibaba.com?

The led It uses is SBT90.2, on Alibaba I paid 108 US Dollars paying with an American Express then they converted the dollars into euros because I'm Italian. Now on Alibaba for the whole of September it costs even less, it seems to me no more than 90 US dollars.

A little advice for everyone if ever there was a need, if you want to save money stop buying on Amazon or eBay because they almost always buy themselves in China at lower prices and then make us pay too high a price. You have to buy directly from the manufacturer and Alibaba or to a lesser extent AliExpress or Banggood also give you this possibility.

Thanks Fedtro for the clarifications, I found it there for the lesser price as you said.

Fedtro is correct. Beam0, go search on Alibaba.com

You will find some sellers offering to sell both Trustfire T70 and T90R at a very good price. And the minimum order is just one piece. Shipping and insurance will be added; but they are quite reasonable.

Now hearing about the September special sale that Fedtro mentioned, I will go to visit Alibaba.com this Sunday.

Good luck flashlight shopping everyone! :innocent:

Banggood has been a mixed bag I’ve noticed of late. Some deals are fine, others seem overpriced. I’ve seen some examples where you can find the same flashlights on AliExpress for much cheaper. A good example is the astrolux MF02s V2, without a coupon the Mateminco counterpart is much cheaper.

Yup, got my Mateminco MT07/MF01 Mini from AliX, lower cost at the time and more options.
