Hi guys does anyone know if Astrolux ever fixed the issues with the FT03 SBT 90 ?
Is it ok to buy the current version?
Hi Tony, I have 4 of FT03S purchased for about 6 months and I have never had any problems! I have read about problems with the radius, the beam and also the Turbo duration. Even at the beginning I realized that the stepdown from the Turbo was too fast but I solved it simply by calibrating the thermal control at 70 ° Celsius through the Anduril UI setting it higher, the flashlight heats up after 5 minutes really a lot but the Turbo lasts much longer.
No problems with mine either, but I have not used it extensively.
The first batches had an issue with turbo only running for 20 seconds when using a good cell like the 40T. I guess they’ve fixed it now? FT03 reflector has a tighter hotspot and flowery patterns around the corona whereas the original FT03S SBT90.2 had a circle around the hotspot. Looked slightly nicer but intensity was also less. I think they’re using the better FT03 reflector now but I’m not 100% sure.
That’s the problem my one had,even after trying different settings and calibration I never actually managed to get turbo to run for very long.
If they fixed the problem I would be keen to give the light a second try.
I will rather wait for the soon to be released SFT 40 version. Seems the SFT 40 may just be the perfect combination of throw and usable spill.
