I haven’t done one of these before so just wanted to ask - the banggood order looks to have pushed back from July 27 to Aug 16, is this just to allow for more ppl to jump onto the buy?
I asked Ben Tang from Mateminco and he gave me some confusing answers. So first I gave him a suggestion of using a high efficiency boost/buck driver in another light. Then he told me that this LEP has a boost driver, then I asked if it steps down and he said it steps down after a while which shouldn’t happen with a boost driver since the host is large enough to handle the heat. I asked again how long turbo can run and he said about 40 minutes with a 30t (3000mah). I asked what the current draw was and he said 3.1A. yeah I’m really confused…Maybe it starts in direct drive then switches to boost when it starts to drop below around 3A. I’m not sure. If it does indeed have a boost driver that would give it a big advantage over other single cell LEPs.
I am actually fine with 30s turbo, if I can wait 30 to 60s and do it again.
Thinking the wp1 will have a more useful beam for my uses, but doesn’t mean I won’t buy others, and probably still find a use, especially when they offer color filters.
It is not uncommon for brand new Astrolux model(1st generation) having longer lead time. Once group buy has started, the number of units placed with manufacturer is already confirmed. Having more people jumping in will not make a huge impact, unless we are talking about 500-1000/lot.

Ordered the 18th with ship date the 25th. Just logged in to check my order status and it has now been changed to the 30th. Just chatted with customer service and they got an attitude with me and blamed the supplier and not them, sometimes our digital count and warehouse count are off, and we can give you a 6% off coupon for your next order. Hopefully they actually ship these lights and don’t keep pushing the date back for months. Very disappointing.

As mentioned on https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/67094/133, delay for brand new models are not uncommon for Astrolux. Please give manufacturer sufficient time to conduct thorough functional tests and QC inspections before releasing them to Banggood.
