We do need to be worried! (Beer Shortage)

For the past two weeks i have noticed there is no beer on the shelves or in the coolers at the big box and grocery stores. No deliveries have been made to restock…what is going on? Is there some nationwide shortage or just a local thang?

I web-read somewhere that there’s a burgeoning carbonated water shortage due to lock downs having affected supply lines.

Hard to believe even if true. I mean a carbonation shortage? :open_mouth:

You might worry less if you can make your own

Admittedly, I still can’t make some favorites, like Miller lite, but I have tried some fermentation.

Rather fun - Reminds me of a grade school Chem project, but you can drink it.

Miller lite is easy! You find a beer you like, cut the grain bill by 75%, add some rice and you’re done!

Seriously though, I haven’t seen any shortages there yet but I would be worried if I did.

Here’s one article that addresses the upcoming Co2 shortages. Beer consumes 14% of all Co2 produced.

Maybe things haven’t been fully Co2 resolved yet besides other beer related material shortages.

A perfect beer storm? Yikes! I can mostly handle shortages butt beer shortages? Oh, man. This could be serious. :person_facepalming:  :open_mouth:

Of course the glue comes from China. I thought horses went to Canada to be slaughtered. Are Canadians hoarding glue? Is the border still closed to horses? Can’t they close the boxes with duct tape? Next they will tell us there is a duct tape shortage. Is it 5:00 o’clock? Pssst. Yup.

Plenty of beer here in Texas.... just a short drive from Alabama.

Us Canadians have been building our reputation for niceness for decades becasue we knew one day something like covid would come along and we would exploit it for all the tea in China.

Make that all the glue in China

I am reminded of this clip

Love it. Brings back old memories of Sat morning cartoons.

maybe it’s just a local thing—i’ll make a beer run tomorrow and see if the shelves are still empty.

Bottle and can shortage? No big deal for me; there’s a microbrew nearby.

I live an hour away from St.Louis MO, home of AB Inbev. Definitely no beer shortages here.

No shortage of any alcohol here besides maybe scotch and sake. Saw beer available, but I prefer rum/whiskey esters over the pisswater and it gets you drunk for 1/3 the price.

Sodas were pretty well stocked in all stores.

no shortages in ny either.

anyone tried kasteel rouge? that one i can only find in few bars, it tastes like sweet cherry soda, no taste of bitterness or alcohol whatsoever, something you’d never suspect is a beer, yet it is 8% by volume in bottles, can’t find it anywhere in stores, that is the only beer that is in short supply here,

BeerMenus.com has an entry for Kasteel Rouge.

Enter your location and it’ll list local places that sell it. Good luck!

No shortages of beverages in cans or bottles here either.

There is no way there is a beer shortage. All day long I see people loading their vehicles with cases of beer.
