what's your plan for the BLF LT1 Lantern?

Here are some runtime test if you’re interested in seeing the results.

As much as this website and my collection are focused on flashlights and throwers, I have to admit that I’ve found lanterns and floods to be far more useful in daily use in the field. My Fenix CL20s have been used all over the place. Equipment racks, inside attics, inside aircraft, inside large equipment, stuck to the “nose” of ceiling fans, etc. Similarly, long runtimes are more beneficial for my use than ultra-brightness.

Charged my lantern just in case of the rolling black out.

We have been having some high winds and forest fires in California. So after two days without power, the LT1 has been very useful. And the collapsible dog bowl lamp shade was a hit with the wife, who does not like light shining in her eyes. The skies were so dark it was like evening yesterday at 3pm. I do not post photos, but if someone PMs me their email address, I will mail one to you for you to post. Sorry for the extra effort on your part, but it is a cool photo.

I’ve been using my LT1 while canning into the evenings. I have put up right at 180 quarts of (mostly tomatoes/salsa) from an extremely successful garden this year. I just cleaned up my last round this evening. I set the LT1 on the corner of my smoker which is on the same brick pad as my canning burner. Great to have out there the last hours of the night while I am constantly catching-up on it all

Yeah, it was like that here in Santa Barbara today at around 6 pm. The sun was fairly high in the sky still and blood red. A mixture of smoke from the fires hundreds of miles away and coastal clouds/fog. Same thing this morning looking at the moon directly overhead. An eerie red.

Lately mine has been serving night light duty so we can check the newborn without waking her, as well as get around the bedroom without tripping over things. I also take it to the changing table in the middle of the night so I don’t wake my wife more than necessary.

It’s a super convenient nightstand light for me. My phone gets the USB-C at night, and occasionally the lantern gets it during the day.

Exploring caves!

Man, if the lantern is in that photo; would be a perfect shot. Still a very nice picture.

Not as good a shot, but here’s one with the lantern. The L6 got a lot of use that day too.

Doesn’t it hurt your finger holding the lantern that way?

Probably would have, but I was just holding it momentarily. Most of the time I held the L6 and my girlfriend had the lantern hooked on her backpack’s shoulderstrap. She also wore the headlamp which she previously insisted that she wouldn’t be seen wearing

- then… she decides it’s kinda’ cool to see where you are going in the dark :+1:

My wife had the same “opinions” of my “dorky” lights UNTIL the electricity went off for a few hours when her folks were visiting about three years ago. Suffice it to say, now her mom has one, her dad has two, she has FOUR (*including her dive light) and as you can guess— I have about 20 :stuck_out_tongue:

:+1:

Hope I can take it camping this year.

Awesome photos! :+1:

I plan on ordering one later this week and using it for camping, can’t wait!

Honestly, the plan is to buy it once I actually need it in some way.

Sometimes just fascination with the tool and acquiring it can lead to a new hobby. I bought all kinds of wonderful pens to encourage myself to get back into artwork (sort-of has… more sketching doodling, though). I figured if I bought myself an LT1 it might incentivize me to go camping. Alas, the past year ruined a lot of plans.

Now that I held off on buying an LT1, I’m now trying to figure out if I should go for a v1 or a v2… I’m a bit annoyed at the apparent changes that Lumintop or Sofirn has been making…

Last week I had my summer camp with a group of waterscouts. We took this giant army tent with us as some kind of living room. Here the lt1 worked great. I put it on a rope between two poles and it iluminated half the tent so you could write and half so you could walk without falling. I had it in muggle mode because others were using it as well and all liked it.
