Which movie did you watch lastֻ

Wrath of Man — Pretty good Movie/Action —- Soundtrack has an Intensity to it —- The movie builds you upward to a very Dismal Finally
After you’ve seen so many action movies not much new stuff to see — I’d watch it again though

That was funny!

The action was pretty good and Stathem was was Statheming the heck out of things. I wasn’t as impressed with the plot on this one though and there was one instance of ridiculous plot armor that really bothered me near the end. Overall I’d give Wrath of Man 6.5/10. I like some of Guy Richie’s other films better.

Year Title Score Comment
1998 Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels 8.5 This movie is so memorable. Love how the plot points converge
2000 Snatch 8.5 Very similar to LS&TSB in tone and content but plenty of stand out moments of hilarity and action
2002 Swept Away N/A Haven’t seen it, heard it’s awful.
2005 Revolver N/A Haven’t seen it, reviews are very mediocre
2008 RocknRolla 7.0 Something of an origin story which unfortunately has no sequel.
2009 Sherlock Holmes 9 I grew up reading Holmes and this action-oriented adaption doesn’t offend me
2011 Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows 9 More of the same, it’s still good!
2015 The Man from U.N.C.L.E. 9.5 Imagine James Bond split into two more believable (and more likeable) characters
2017 King Arthur: Legend of the Sword 7 Another origin not getting a sequel :(. Cool take on a classic story but not for everyone
2019 Aladdin 5.5 Aladdin takes a back seat in his own movie. The animated one is a better watch
2019 The Gentlemen 8.0 A bit dour, but more a return to form for Ritchie. I liked it
2021 Wrath of Man 6.5 Takes itself too seriously. I had trouble connecting with characters. Ridiculous plot armor.

The movie, or the fact that I recommend it? :stuck_out_tongue: If you mean the movie then I definitely agree! There was a certain vehicle-related “incident” with Tom Cruises character in particular that was just great

That’s exactly the part that came to mind.

“What the hell were you thinking?”
R.I.P. Bill.

last night, i watched a quiet place and its sequel. what a steaming pile of dog shit.

how can these possibly have 7.5 and 7.4 on IMDB and 96% and 91% on RT, respectively? mind blowing.

they were unoriginal and uninteresting. and don't get me started on this weaponized hearing aid bs.

wow, let's heroically risk life and limb to get to the radio broadcasting station to hook this hearing aid up so we can save the day. any aliens that happen to be within earshot of the dozens (at most?) of energized radios in range of the station will become moderately annoyed! wow, way to save the day!

also, these creatures can cross solar systems but have trouble crossing a lake?

even ignoring that the movies are dumb as hell, they're also not entertaining. that's my main criticism.

my only conclusion is the ratings are pumped up by the wokes for having a "nontraditional" protagonist. dunno how else to make sense of it.

I really liked A Quiet Place, and I don't care about movies having a deaf protagonist or not.

It was entertaining and not dumb in the least.

It's one of the best horror movies that has come out in recent years.

I saw the first one and that was enough. There were too many illogical things happening in that movie.

- The biggest problem and the one I can’t look past is that apparently you can kill the monsters with a shotgun blast but somehow the military wasn’t able to beat them? If they are soft on the inside then they could be COOKED from the outside in. And heavy impacts will cause internal damage even if you accept that they have a magically invincible shell. These things are incredibly sensitive to sound and nobody NOBODY thought of weaponizing sound against them??

-The second biggest problem was that they didn’t just live next to a source of natural or artificial white noise. If it is safe next to the waterfall, live next to the waterfall for instance.

-Why did the corn act like quicksand? Void collapses are a thing but I think that should be instant not a long and drawn out process.

-You expect me to believe that any child would be able to be silent 24/7 365 days a year? Every single one would be doomed to die and even an adult would likely slip up eventually. Maybe even literally slip, and fall, and ya know make noise?

I liked the premise, and I like that John Krasinski and Emily Blunt made it, but the science fiction elements are just too sloppy for my taste.

I saw The Final Destination (2009), which I will call Part 4.

It's about as good as Part 2, except the violence is mostly done very poorly.

The violence near the end is pretty good, but not for the rest of the film.

At least Part 4 wasn't boring.

Yea, that and “Maggot!”

and definatly R.I.P. Bill, as turkydance said. I had the pleasure of seeing him at a convention to talk about that movie (“They knew we were coming!”), and also comment on others and his career, and it was great. I will not soon forget that.

Counterpart (Amazon Prime ) Not a movie but a 2 Season series —- JK Simmons makes this worth watching

J.K. Simmons is pretty awesome in everything that I've seen him in.

I remember him in Law & Order many years ago.

In counterpart he plays two versions of himself next to each other —you actually believe it’s two different people ( at least I did)

True Grit (John Wayne)

Have you seen the Jeff Bridges remake? I think I still like the original the best. Some people love that Jeff Bridges remake though. I thought it was a bit bland.

I think I saw the old True Grit, as well as the remake.

If I remember correctly, I enjoyed both.

They are both good. I just find that the original has more personality and is more memorable. I actually have the nice double-feature bluray set with both movies in it. (Blu-rays are another thing I collect; I have 338 SKUs in my collection)

thanks for mentioning True Grit.
i have seen both movies as well,
and, as usual, the book is better.
i mean…really better.

Counterpart (TV Series 2017–2019) - IMDb

This was a really interesting series . I really liked it .Too bad they sort of ran out of plot . JK Simmons was really good in it too . I thought I had already suggested this to raccoon city in a PM years ago ..

He never listens to me ..
