Guinness brightest flashlight

300 XHP70 LEDs with 7s run time.

Previously posted here, but the Guinness record is new news.

They did pretty well for not getting input from the forum

edit: the CBC interview with the subject might be of interest for those who click through and play the 7 minute interview

Yeah, but is the pocket clip reversible?

Drink enough Guinness and every flashlight looks like a world record breaker.

Also, don't flash your brights at this guy if you see him coming...

The first “Made in the USA” flashlight that made headline news in months!

Congratulations!

How soon this pilot model can go into commercial production?

It’d be funny watching that car get pulled over by the cops for “improper use of equipment”.

No worries. Less’n a month from now you’ll be able to pick up one of those on AX.

Only it’ll be rated 999,000,000lm instead.

500,000 lumens at startup, 0 ANSI lumens. That’s a hell of a turbo.

Except it was made in Canada

I think their main goal is clickbait for youtube views, still amusing though. They have budget for wasting. The audio in the CBC interview with them powering it on is what made me post; TLDL[isten] the powering up sound was the best part of the light.

They are a smart crew, and the lead says he has LED background. Practical and useful wasn’t really incorporated, production was more thematic. They still self promoted enough to grab an official Guinness, but that is more likely due to a PR or marketing person on the payroll.

Still interesting with the advent of nerds being cool with lots of money. Many folks here are more dedicated to the art and science but will never get the recognition or adulation

Except that its made by a Canadian Youtuber.

Thanks Souichirou for the correction. I misunderstood; didn’t read the description.

I think they did a good job imitating the “Myth Busters” and got the Guinness World’s Record as a prize for their entertaining invention. :person_with_crown:

Not one single beamshot. Just a bunch of floody mess strapped to the roof of a ricer. And “several pairs of sunglasses”? Kid, if you don’t know what a shade 14 pipeliner is, you need to go back to your Legos.

1 Thank

It is, feel free to clip it to your baseball cap.

It’s not a cannon, its a stadium light. No beam, all flood. NOT hard to do.

define flashlight.
thats a contraption.
i wonder what definition Guinness uses?

it’s not a flashlight, but still seems related. Frustrating to see the capabilities/facilities and budget they have to produce … junk. Even the shelf queens that people buy can be used when needed. What they called a heat sink was more like a plane for a heat sink—2D isn’t ideal for maximizing surface area, great for mating to a heat sink

For all they are lacking, they somehow figured out how to get Guinness to give the a record

I agree with this 100%. But the channel’s main demographics is children, so they don’t have to make a fully functional product, just a bunch of expensive leds strapped into a trashcan…

Yup, I was thinking about making one… I probably will, and apply for a record, but the record process is extremely shitty, because for a “quicker response” you can pay 2500$, essentially bribing them to give ya a record lol. The hacksmith one used 5kw of high discharge lipo batteries, which will last about 5 seconds. When I will build one, it will likely be watercooled, and wired for convenience and practicality, running for 25 minutes at 1.4 million lumens with cob led units and individually cooled leds…

2 Thanks
