Which brands are easier on sending free review lights?

Wondering what companies are more likely to send flashlights to review? So far I’ve made review videos for Sofirn, Convoy, Wurkkos, Astrolux, Maxtoch, Yakorsei totaling 14 models. I’d like to get other brands so I can bring more content to my subs and continue to grow, I may just have to stick with these brands for awhile.

Asked Amutorch awhile back and they said yes! Yay…only to email them last week to review the new XT60 and they said no discount, but welcome to buy and review…WTF lol. I’m not spending 20+ hours reviewing something I’m paying full price for unless it leads a company to sending models in the future. Some videos are getting 3-7k views. If they said 50% discount like Maxtoch, I would have been okay with.

No surprise larger brands are refusing until my subs are higher, but anyone know of other smaller brands that may give me a shot?

Brinyte has been amazing, even having a min sub requirement of 1k (I’m below), they said we’ll give you a chance since the content is so good. They’ll be sending me their new HL16 headlamp once released.

Banggood gave me approval and I reviewed the Astrolux EA02, but I didn’t count on Flashaholic and Charles getting the same one, so that stuffed my view count at only 1.8k instead of my EA01S I managed to get it done before Flashaholic and achieved almost 7k.

Banggood is great, but I’d rather try get my hands on models/brands that Flashaholic (Matt Gill) won’t be getting if possible.

Why don’t you buy the lights you want to to review and sell them after you are done? It will be almost a wash as they will basically still be new when you sell them.

Been trying to sell the Astrolux EA01, EA01S, FT02S that I reviewed in both SST40 and XHP50.2 for 3 months now and no interest. I’m selling below cost price with a Molicel P42A and no interest at all. This is because many brands like this are almost unheard of in New Zealand

The only brand that normally sends me some of their models to review is Wuben (maybe you can reach them). I’ve collaborated with Brinyte and Sofirn before, too.
Lately I was approached by XTAR but so far I have no confirmation if I will be receiving a light or not.

I post mainly here on BLF and I do some videos for my small channel (31 subs only). Most of my video reviews are quite simple (I am not a native english speaker) and don’t have measurements or beamshots. So I understand “big” brands don’t want to send me their lights. I also tend to like/buy some not mainstream lights (from brands like On The Road).

Your channel and contents are different, you can provide more information, so maybe that can be used as an attractive.

Maybe if you can buy some Olights and Nitecores to get more people to sub your channel then you can ask companies to send you lights later. I know, it seems a “sell out” strategy, but those are “bigger” brands - more widely known - unlike Astrolux and others.

“Regular people”, as in non-enthusiasts, will stick brands they know about, so it is harder to get them to buy less known brands. :weary:

EDIT: Check Skilhunt too.

I’m a dealer for Skilhunt, but they don’t really have anything “new”.

Just became a dealer for Nitecore, so that’s exactly what I plan to do, review some and sell them at cost, they’ll sell no trouble then. Might even have the local distributor put in a good word for me depending on the outcome.

Thanks for your input

Yup, Skilhunt hasn’t been releasing anything new since the last headlamps some months ago, so you’d be reviewing “old stuff”.

I also remembered about EagTac (formerly know as EagleTac). From what I perceive they are a solid brand, not much appreciated/reviewed/talked about here (or not so budget…) but they seem to have niches for some people. They have a proper site and also an AliExpress Store. Their reliability and “name” may be positive.

Also, Thrunite is a brand much talked these days, in some ways compared to Olight. Apart from that and the 2 brands I mentioned before, Fenix seems to be appreciated as well…

Other than these, other brands are know in “our community” but less outside of it (YLP, Fireflies, Noctigon, Haikelite, ….you name it).
