Someone please rescue this neat light!
I received it as-is with a bundle I purchased. Previous owner says they tried a 14500 cell and ruined the light.
I disassembled it and took these photos. The driver is probably beyond repair. There’s at least one burned trace on the cell side, and the inductor looks toasted.
I don’t know if the optic is salvageable. The emitter is clearly viewable through it, but it seems to have gotten a bit melty and now a couple of the SMD components are encroaching into it’s surface. It’s stuck firmly in place.
Threads are good on both ends and I was able to remove the optic’s retaining ring without much hassle.
I tested the reverse-clicky switch with a DMM and it works.
Driver is 15mm diameter.
