I was under the impression it came with the solar panels (since its called a solar generator), but that is not the case. “Solar” just means it accepts variable voltage, 10V-25V.
It’s a sort of GTmicro type light and gives it a good run for its money, but for me there are more than one deal-killers.
“Breathing” sideswitch. F’n creepy, only choices are breathing and off, no steady. Okay, I can turn it off, but what’s the point of a lit switch, then?
Weird-ass UI. Not as backward and counterintuitive as on the E05, but bad enough. Only shortcut is for blinkies, nothing (as in zero) for moonlight/turbo.
So as is kinda typical for Wubens, fantastic hardware, trash UI. :weary:
Ordered b4 you posted. I’ll probably return it. I’m sure I’ll be disappointed compared to 3 soonfires for nearly the same price. I wonder when Amazon will cut me off. I return a LOT.
I politely beg to differ. It’s not a super-flexible UI like Anduril, but nor is it meant to be. It’s meant to be dead simple. Would I have liked shortcuts? Yes. Does that complicate things for everyday users? Perhaps. This thing has 3 modes; to me having shortcuts isn’t going to make-or-break a UI when you only have 3 modes. At least it’s click-on, click-off.
Just like I’m not about to toss out my E05 because it is a fantastic piece of hardware, but there’s nfw I’d EDC the beastie simply because of its backwards UI.
My gf has a set’n’forget approach. Set the light to the brightness she likes, then it’s just on/off. Nothing wrong with that if it’s what you want.
But for (seemingly) most people here who want andouille 3+ for even a squeezy-type coin-cell keychain light, a backwards UI might not fly.
I’m too dumb for Andruil tbh. Maybe someday I’ll memorize it and find it more useful. I’d like to try Andruil 2, maybe I’ll make fewer mistakes (that end up w/ light in whacky mode).
Thanks for that. I will put up with ramping from high and a few other UI quirks, but these? Nah. OSRAM CSLPM1 and CULPM1 emitters are still relatively new… there will be more deals like this with other lights having a better UI. Can wait!
Thank B’harni the TO46R has that dual-switch setup, else its UI would be f’ed, too.
Wuben’s got some really good lights, but the crappy UIs make them (to me at least) nigh unusable. Again, personal choice, if you can get used to it, etc., B’harni bless ya.
I’m holding the Wuben E6 in my hand right now.
From off- single click turns on in last mode, then, long press to cycle through l-m-h-l-m-h…. or double click goes to strobe mode, single click to off.
From off- long press does nothing.
From off- double click goes into random strobe mode. Double click again to get SOS. Long press does nothing. Single click turns off.
I have not found any moonlight or turbo modes.
So, click on, click off. Double click any time to get strobe. While on, long press to cycle through L,M,H.
