Which movie did you watch lastֻ

In counterpart he plays two versions of himself next to each other —you actually believe it’s two different people ( at least I did)

True Grit (John Wayne)

Have you seen the Jeff Bridges remake? I think I still like the original the best. Some people love that Jeff Bridges remake though. I thought it was a bit bland.

I think I saw the old True Grit, as well as the remake.

If I remember correctly, I enjoyed both.

They are both good. I just find that the original has more personality and is more memorable. I actually have the nice double-feature bluray set with both movies in it. (Blu-rays are another thing I collect; I have 338 SKUs in my collection)

thanks for mentioning True Grit.
i have seen both movies as well,
and, as usual, the book is better.
i mean…really better.

Counterpart (TV Series 2017–2019) - IMDb

This was a really interesting series . I really liked it .Too bad they sort of ran out of plot . JK Simmons was really good in it too . I thought I had already suggested this to raccoon city in a PM years ago ..

He never listens to me ..

It just goes in one ear and out the other.

Just watched the first episode of Counterpart. Good so far. Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks Robin for a great time.

Good Morning, Vietnam

Speaking Vietnam - masterpiece:
Apocalypse Now

The Divergent Series: Allegiant

awful.
not scary, sexy, or sad,
but slow, stupid, and silly.

even fast forward did not help.
worst movie we have seen this year.
the only good part was the free rental.

I got a deal on the 4K Bluray of The Mummy a while back. I was too tired to watch the whole thing but so far it looks amazing. Obviously the effects are still a bit dated but the rest of the film is native 4k. The Mummy itself actually looks pretty cool imo. It’s the scarab beetles that look the worst. (The Dwayne Johnson Scorpion King doesn’t show up till the next movie)

I started watching it, then bailed out after the first half hour, skimming a bit forward just to see if it got better (did not). And frankly, I thought it was so terribly lame. I get it, in an “action movie” you can’t expect award winning acting, but man… it was crap. Pratt is always the same person in every movie he does. But in any case, the screenplay is so banal & mundane with production showing over-saturated and overused CGI. And really, the premise is just plain DUMB.

But there was Amazon promoting it over & over & over & over…

Chris Pratt earned a lot of good will for his portrayal of Starlord with me and other viewers, but he’s burning through it fast. There have been several actors over the years who played the same character in nearly every movie (John Wayne for example). But for that to work, the single character must be iconic and charismatic; they need to be larger than life. Chris Pratt in this movie comes off as…emasculated.

I had someone tell me that the movie was good and they listed the special effects as one form of evidence. Good special effects does not a good movie make, but apparently I’m out of touch with the wider audience that thinks otherwise. :weary:

I like Sci-Fi and time travel a lot so I was patient with it. But I probably should have bailed 20 min in.

Murphy’s War.

since today, August 2, is Peter O’Toole’s birthday,
we watched one of his movies. it is “fair”.
in our opinion, he overacts in this one.
but, for a free rental, it was good enough.

Still got time, so definitely catch “Creator”, a great POT flick.

I caught it like 0300 on a Saturnday night / Sunday morning, caught like the first few minutes of it, and stayed up ’til dawn to watch the rest of it. It’s funny, sad, feelgood, dramatic, everything good wrapped into one movie burrito.

“Son of a bitch!!”

Say it loud, say it proud!

@up - great movie!

Just watched Nobody’s Fool
Great, warm, movie.
Paul Newman, Jessica Tande, Melanie Griffith, what could go wrong?

I Am Not A Serial Killer - 2016, Has Christopher Lloyd in it

One of the more unique horror/thriller movies I have seen. I can see myself watching it again some day.
