Actually, I wish we could go even warmer than 2700K with the LT1-mini and LT2 (the even bigger one). For a cozy mood illumination, 1800K - 2200K like true candlelight would be a great add on to the warmer end of the tint ramp. Unfortunately, there are very few LEDs only in that spectrum, LH351D is not among them. 4x 26800 might be too big in diameter size. You would probably need two hands to hold this monster. :D Moreover, these batteries are hard to source for manufacturers and even more difficult/expensive to replace by new batteries.
Yes, just buy one. I bought one and it was so good I bought a second. They’re great for camping, but I actually use mine every single night before bed in candlelight mode. Turn it on, set it to low for a half hour or an hour, and fall asleep. Even after weeks of this the batteries still read north of 4V. I bet only used like this it would go for months or years without needing to be recharged, although I always charge them to full before I go camping so I’ll probably never know.
Interested, if there is an option to detach the diffuser. I’m just interested in driver improvements to the if25, and ability to adjust thermal cutoff.
I’m not sure if there is a High-CRI LED in that range of tint of 1800K, but its probably not a big issue when its that warm close to a candle light color.
As my flashlight taste palate evolved, I no longer like lights I purchased in the past due to the color temp. I have an SP36-pro that has 6500k emitters. I want to replace it and noticed the offer a 2000K emitter choice which I think is the E21. I have diffusers for the SP36 and I reckon with the uber warm E21’s, it might make a good tailstand 5600lm little lantern. Not that you would run it on turbo but turned right down on candle setting and it would be pretty nice.
I going to order another LT1…in that hawt orange color. But…I notice they are advertising the new updated Anduril 2 version, it’s significantly more expensive. Is there any difference other than the Anduril? I like my LT1 just the way it is I don’t want any new fancy more complicated UI, it took me long enough to master Anduril-V1. So is it just the programming that is different?
The actual flashlight circuitry is untouched compared to earlier versions, so you should be able to flash Anduril 1 onto it.
However, i would encourage you to give Anduril 2 a chance.
For basic uses, Anduril 2 is very similar and in many aspects more forgiving than Anduril 1.
More advanced uses do require some relearning of course.
I personally have reflashed all my lights to Anduril 2.
Thanks, I was looking at the Anduril 2 operation sheet today, I wonder if they increased the type C charge rate to PD18w spec, that for me would justify the cost increase for sure.
I added you to the list. I asked Barry for an estimate of the price and since they are close to making a prototype hopefully he’ll be able to provide a number.
Very true, Maybe sacrificing a bit of CRI to have a candle tint glow at it’s warmest setting is fine. I have some random-brand LEDs in modified lanterns in the 1800 ~ 2000K range, and love the near candle flame color tints, regardless of the lower CRI, and its not really noticeable when they get into that flame yellow range.
BLF member rngwn has had 1900K 5mm leds made with wonderful tint and CRI (1900K, 93CRI, duv –0.0010, I recommend these btw, he has many still for sale in his thread). I’m not saying that these should be used for the little lantern (at 10 lumen max per led you need too many of them), but apparently there are chinese led manufacturers willing to custom make leds with special tints, at low quantities (rngwn’s batch was 10,000 pieces). Maybe a route for the lantern?
