Driver 3 XM-ls

Hi,

My name is Christopher and I am new to this forum but hoping for some help to find a replacement driver for a 3x CREE XM-L s.
The headlamp is a Lumonite Navigator 3000 (3000lm) so I just don’t want to throw it away if I don’t have too.
I must have switched polarity by mistake and now it is dead so similar problem as in this thread: Cooked Driver- any place for replacements?

I tried to find an identical driver without success, can anyone help me to find supplier prefferebly in Europe. The current one has 5 modes but anything could do actually, even a new driver/LED because the lamp is quite expensive.

The Diameter of the driver is 28mm, the PCB LED is 32mm (LEDs are working fine).

I will upload photos later.

Thank you in advance.
Christopher

Hi,

and here are the images:

Welcome to BLF Chris.

The product page says that the battery is 7.4V, assuming that the LEDs are wired in parallel that means you need a buck driver with 2S input.

You need to know what sort of switch it uses, is it a mechanical switch or an electronic (momentary) switch.

Edit : looking at the pics the e-switch is integrated to the driver board making it non standard, that’s going to complicate things.

Have you tried contacting the manufacturer ? I assume it’s out of warranty but you could still ask if they’re willing to sell you a driver.

Would This one do?

Or This ?

Hej och välkommen!

Yeah, that light does indeed have a rather hefty price tag. Don’t through it away, it should be possible to piggy back some other driver on to it. Which driver depends on how much room you have, and how that MCPCB is wired. Too me it looks like that MCPCB has LEDs wired in series but I can’t be sure, it would make more sense to me if they where wired in parallel. You wrote that LEDs are working fine. How much voltage does it take to light them up?

Hi/Hej!

Thank you all for your kind help and suggestions.

I sent an email to the company today asking if I could buy the driver board.

I had look at KD (thanks), great if I can use one of their “generic” ones, found this as well:KD 28mm

@Mike, it takes two batteries, it is difficult to see in the photo but if you zoom in you can see the connection on MCPCB. It is 22mm from top of driver PCB to bottom of housing, have to take into account the cable from the batteries but should be possible to fit something close to 22mm.

BTW, the driver board isn’t completely dead, it indicates it is on and there is 3v at the MCPCB.

Hello,

Hmm seems I’m not very active at the forum, sorry for that…

I tried to order from the manufacturer but no luck and after a few weeks when I received my lamp back I placed it in a drawer and forgot about it…

I can’t find any drivers in EU so seems I have to order from US.
The lamp has 3xXM-L s in series, battery is 7.4v but no problem if I have to use 3S, the switch is momentary should be possible to place a mechanical though. I like to have a few modes so I can adjust the current, I had a look at 26mm MTN-MAX but it is out of stock.

Any suggestions please?

Regards
Christopher
