Cause of Death

Yep, and if I remember correctly, Donnie Darko chose to die because he thought that the world would be better without him.

I think the world is better with LB in it, though.

Something like that could have happened to me when I was commuting by car each day. Whatever was the source of the rock, it looked like a kitchen-sponge hit the road in front of me, at highway speeds, and bounced up and hit my car. Put a long dent and gash in my hood, belted my port-side wiper-arm so hard that it bent pretty bad and the blade popped clean off and went flying, then “rolled” up the windshield putting 3 big holes in the windshield that you could wiggle your finger through, then flew up and over the car.

I was wearing a button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up, good thing I instinctively closed my eyes when it hit, ’cause I was showered with shards of glass that painted little teeny dots of blood all over my exposed right arm, and I was picking out shards of glass from my sleeve “cuffs”.

After the initial “wtf?!?”, I drove to work as normal, and visited the local precinct to report it, and then got sent to highway patrol ’cause it was their jurisdiction.

Needless to say, it wasn’t a kitchen-sponge but a big honkin’ fist-sized piece of concrete.

Had a few incidents like that which sometimes make you feel like you’re playing with house money.

I try. I bring light to the world.

Flying objects on the highway are very dangerous. Once I had something coming at me so fast I had no time to react on the interstate. Smacked the grill so hard I thought it put a hole in the radiator. Kept watching the temp. gage until I could pull over. Right now there is a circular crack in my windshield from a rock I think. Never saw it. Came off a truck coming from the opposite direction. Another time something from a log truck that passed me as I exited a 4 lane highway hit the windshield right in front of my wife’s face. Luckily it didn’t go through. Kids have been known to drop rocks off overpasses and they have killed many. Driving is like Russian Roulette.

Yeh, that’s one thing that was suggested by HWY, that some idiot kids threw something off the LIRR overpass (which was about where it happened). Not sure how high a rock would bounce depending on the road material, so couldn’t really say.

And there was that time a baby, in a car-seat, in the backseat, and in the middle, got killed dead by a bowling-ball(!) some shiite-for-brains thought would be “funny” to drop onto the highway below. Went right through the windshield between both parents sitting in front.

Too many individual articles to list, so…

(Damn, can’t believe I remembered that incident…)

most likely suicide

How many here own a grave site and/or a headstone ready and waiting for you?

I do.

Always with the negative waves…

I don’t have a grave site or headstone, instead I would like to be cremated. That way my relatives and friends could roll me up and smoke me.

Makes me think of this comedian I’ve seen —- In one of his jokes he talks about how people go up to the casket and say how so n so looks good —He said hell no I want to look dead — I want people to come up and gag — say man what’s that smell ——

“How many here own a grave site and/or a headstone ready and waiting for you?”

well, we have done something like that.
our bodies will be donated and cremated afterwards,
which is already setup and legally binding.

I wasn't thinking negatively. My father bought the lots for his whole family when he was terminal 20+ years ago. Then 10 years ago my best friend passed away and she was put in one of the lots. So I had a double headstone made to match my parents. Also, I had a 1500 pound 4 ft. granite statue custom made for her that was placed between our stone and my parents. Best statue in any cemetery for miles around.

It’s not negative to plan. Having seen an unplanned estate, it’s your responsibility…

Good question. :white_check_mark:

I do.
….

+1 Amen to that… an unplanned estate can be a nightmare & disaster rolled into one big mess.
I have seen a couple too, thankfully not in my tamily.

And this applies to far more than what to do with the remains of the recently departed.

Well it’s kinda required of you. I mean it’s your name and all………

Not me, cremate me and just flush me down the toilet. I’m gone already at that point, what do I care?

If I were to die unexpectedly it would probably be due to something smart I shouldn’t have said to an idiot.

It was the first piece of real estate I ever purchased. Three slots over from my Dad, right after he passed. My Mom and sister bought the other two.

I was back home for 19 days earlier this year b/c of a family health emergency. While there, I had a chance to explore the cemetery. I found over 60 direct relatives including all of my Grandfathers going back to the first one that immigrated in 1846. Kinda cool actually.
