I found out about BLF before I found out about CPF. I read many stories about that forum. So I decided to check them out but nothing that caught my eye. Although it seems that the forum is more towards the CW side instead of a more WW side?
From my experience, the CPFers that don’t have a foot here are either all about the highest power possible, which means most of the time they’ll be using CW, or incandescent aficionados.

I recently received CPF spam ” look what other’s are talking about ” Never heard a peep from them before
Supposedly that’s a new “feature” to try to get more people on the site than before. Everyone that is a member will be getting that email by default but you can opt out by unsubscribing at the bottom.

Yeh, I started getting ’em, too; wondered if I should ask if anyone else was as well.
eh, I actually came here from CPF when I heard about the “giggle monster” and had to check it out and then get one, and others…and then more…:p.
I was mostly on CPF because of my laser hobby which was a very small (one) section of their forums, actually hung out on photonlexicon.com more.
I'm think it's due to the fact that BLF was created because of how those on CPF looked down on budget flashlights. 
They drove away many people, there are consequences to that.
If they want more members they have to realize their past mistakes and change their culture so that they are not repeating them.
Atoning would also be nice but it is unlikely.
